HuGu will start adding this summer i can guarantee it and for me it would start with offer sheet to Pettersson.
For me Pettersson is the target.

Anyone pushing against the idea of targeting a 100 point player is out to lunch. He's only turning 26 next November.

But, I don't see Van letting him get away.

Godin mentioned Kent Johnson out of Columbus.

Basu mentioned Kappo Kaako out of New York.
Basu also mentioned another player but I can't remember for the life of me.

Thinks they'll likely target someone more established in their mid to late 20s this time around vs. another Dach/Newhook play.
Mittelstad fits the bill.

I know offer sheets rarely work out but for me it's the only logical way to try and get him. And what's the most interesting part for me is we can afford to lose 4 1sts picks and we can also afford to overpay salary wise, which could be a problem for Vancouver.

i don't know if Vancouver would match 12M$ per.

Vancouver has the cap space though and no way they let him walk while Quinn Hughes has so many years left of productive seasons.

The only real way to get him is if he wants out of Van.

I can't see Columbus trading Johnson, but that would be who I would target. Pinto is another player I'd target.

The only thing is that Basu article where he suspects/hears that Hugo is probably going to want to trade for someone a little more established and less like Dach/Newhook.

The only folks I can think of that might be available are Pettersson, Zegras, Kyrou, Necas.

Kakko and Johnson are more like Dach/Newhook.

Well, they mentioned Kent Johnson because of how much of a mess CBJ is and right now they've been sending him down then giving him 14 minutes a night. I agree it might not happen, but there might be an opportunity where they punt on Johnson and recoup assets now.

They mentioned Pettersson but unsure whether he'd really come here.

The other name was Podkolzins.

Mittelstad fits the bill.

In theory - stylistically, just like Zegras, not sure if he's their fit.

ya not sure either, they are young guys for these teams.

what is Buff looking for ? what do the need?
BUF could use goalie vet to guide Devon Levi and some D who can move the puck. Even Barron would be an upgrade to Clifton/Jokiharju/Samuelsson. They have bunch of offensive prospects, so Mittelstadt could be realistic target.

It's going to be an interesting summer because everyone, including Hughes, has been explicit that their intention is to make a trade.

Such a weird feeling as a habs fan. For the longest time we either had GMs that refused to feed speculation or had MB telling us trades are hard. Hughes is telling fans and insiders specifically that he's targeting talent via trade and that the assets he's collecting are for that.

The suspense is killing me.

The other thing they were talking about is how the Canadiens management is aware of that it's been 3 years now for Caufield and Suzuki where they are talking to the media about the players in the room, leaders etc. who are being traded for first round picks and nothing tangible.

They don't necessarily eye making the play-offs next year, but it needs to be a year with stability and progression toward transition out of the rebuild and less on asset accumulation.

What they've been able to acquire as far as assets from what MB left them has been truly amazing.

Romanov and some picks into Dach
Chiarot and a 2nd into Newhook
2 1sts out of thin air from Monahan
Mesar and Heineman for Toffoli.

let's speed up to the draft. that will be the start of the KH summer.

690 is yaking how KH should have got a young player and a #1 for SM

now the habs are a laughing stock they say, easy push over's without SM

I doubt Columbus is trading Johnson if they put Laine on the trade block (before he ended up on the assistance program).

I also don't see a single team trading their 20-25 years old established top 6 players willingly. You are left with RFA/UFAs who are asking too much for what is left of their team cap.

Not that many options out there, even less options where they will trade those players for a 1st+other picks and some young LDs.

The only forwards that New Jersey will be looking to trade are ones that aren’t helping them win now, Holtz stands out as the odd one out to me

Savard is the type of player they need, just don’t really know how the cap would work. Obviously they should look for a goalie but I can’t see Allen being the one they are looking for
Now I know why people were laughing at my trade proposal- I meant to write Alexander Holtz! Got to two former first round picks mixed up!

Lol...it was late...I was tired...brain wasn’t working

I also liked

Baron and a 2nd for Lehkonen
Matheson, 2nd, 3rd, two 4ths, Lindstrom, Pearson for Petry (25% retained), Poehling, Pitlick, Hoffman
2nd for Kulak

3rd for Edmundson (50% retained)
Kovacevic off of waivers

With only one retention spot available for this season, three netminders on the roster and very little in terms of RHD, why the f*** are you guys entertaining dealing Savard before dealing Allen?
because Allen sucks and even at 50% we wont get much i mean theres a reason hes still with us when Hughes has been trying to trade him all season

Savard on the other hand would be on demand and would return a 1st or 2nd + prospect

Savard will demand the same next season.
