As far as trading for a young player is concerned, my two reasonnable targets would be Mittelstadt and Kakko.

Both are RFA so they need new deals.

My frist choice would be Mittelstadt cause i think we need more proven talent to lessen the risk. Of course he would be more pricy (both in the trade and new contract) but i think we are there in terms of needs.

Kakko could be an interesting consolation prize.

For Mittelstadt, i would propose Winn's 1st + Calg's 1st + Barron and a cap dump (Dvorak/Armia) and sign him to a 8 years X 6,5-7M$ per contract.

Kakko, i would offer Barron + Winn's 1st/ Habs' 2025 2nd and sign him to a 2 years X 3,5M$ per contract.
WAY too much for Kakko. Maybe Barron and that's it. Maybe. No chance in hell, that 1st or high 2nd is getting offered too

No he’s a Center with a $8M cap hit till 2025, I think he was supposed to be 2C for them but he ain’t cutting it.

Colorado put one of their goalie on waivers today, maybe there’s something in the works like swapping Johansen and Allen with Habs getting some compensation for the extra cap hit. Probably won’t happen but one can dream…

If we get compensation ? Yeah, I would do it. The team needs experience down the middle. It needs to resolve the goaltending situation too.

Allen for Johansen straight up would be a very sensible trade.

Habs take on a modest amount of salary that they don't need, with a shot at selling him at next year's deadline.

I'm wondering, is Dallas rumored to be in on anyone this year at the TDL ?

I'm looking at their lineup and man, it's deep top to bottom. It has depth at center, wings, scoring, playmaking and size everyone.

What are they lacking exactly ? They've never rebuilt. They've knocked it out of the park with their drafting, but also their trades and FAs. The West is going to be a bloodbath this year. I kind of feel bad for McDavid and the Oilers.

And that my friends is why I consider our TDL is already over.
I just don't see anything significant coming back for any of those players.
If HuGo can get some picks back, at least there's something salvageable, in order to acquire prospects.

Maybe Allen but we definately get a short term cap dump in return + 2nd/3rd pick. I might be off though.

Pearson : no interest in the leaugue i'm pretty sure about that.

Savard : If a team pay big, we might see him go before this year's TDL.

Kovacevic for late round pick.

Harris : not a deadline move.

Anderson : not a deadline move and probably not a move at all.

So all in all to answer your question : Probably Allen and Kovacevic
If you want to trade Kovacevic for a pick, then it's best you hold on to him, perfect 7D. Do you prefer another Wideman?
