yeah 8 years seems like a lot

edit: the Wings should kick some tires on Boqvist
I think the term was going to be unavoidable. Clever for CBJ to pursue the sign and trade for that extra year.

That's #2 salary. I'm not sure we are in a position to lock in anyone at that level beyond Ed's ELC. Mo and Ed are going to be expensive AF. We need a RD at the Walman/Maatta price point.

yeah I guess the thought there is that eventually with the cap going up that could be 2nd pairing money in 5 years or whatever, he's signed until the age of 37 though so there's still some decline risk there even if that works out

Yeah, it'll probably be #3-4 money in 4-5 years.

Term is a bit less scary for D.

And yes, Boqvist should get a look. We can give the BJs a 3rd back so they basically swapped Boqvist for Severson.

I don't know is it impossible to do, but they should just find out these family guys who will love Northern Europe lifestyle.

Family men, who like to snowcross or go to ice-fishing. Tomas Holmström was that, Janne Niinimaa was that. They don't care about the city. They just want play hockey at top level, live family life and won't care a damn if there's a new york nearby. Just nature and calmness what Michigan will offer. It doesn't differ at all from Sweden or Finland.

Just find the right guys, who are that type of persons and lock them up. They are there, not everybody will want a beach or megacity nearby.
I don't think you understand, Winnipeg is much colder than Stockholm or whatever city you are closest to, 12F is -11C. And there are days when you get below -20C. So freakin cold you can't blow your nose because your snot is frozen. Winnipeg is is in the middle of Canada with no ocean around like Europe.

You really don't want to snowmobile in that kind of weather. Winnipeg is also very windy. Maybe ice fishing works if you buy a shelter... but I find ice fishing pretty boring. They don't fight well when it's that cold. I've caught splake (brook/lake trout hybrid), walleye, and northern pike up there.

Us automotive guys go up there for cold weather testing. GM goes to Kapuskasig, Ford to Thompson Manitoba which is even further north than Winnipeg, dunno where Chrysler goes. I've never considered it a fun trip at all. At least you can hit the pool or Lake Havasu on the hot weather trips.

Yeah, I was not hyping Winnpeg at all.

Just Detroit, how it's not the worst possible place in the world. Michigan is a nice place if you like that kind of environment, and won't prefer big city centrum/life. It has the same climate as Sweden/Finland and lakes like Sweden/Finland to enjoy the nature. I just remembered what Holmström and Franzen they did at wintertime there.

I don't see DeBrincat happening. He wants 9 mil annually? So Yzerman is going to pay him more than Larkin? Not to mention pay big time assets to get him?

No, no, no, no, no, no, NO!

Hmm... this just got more interesting:

DeBrincat to Detroit with a hometown discount?

This is what we're talking.

8.5/8.75M per is a hometown discount ?

That is full ‘as marked pricing’, with no haggle and about 15% inflation on top.

For that price I’m looking for a Dog… not a cat.

8.5 to 8.75 isn't really a discount.

7.25 to 7.75 for DeBrincat. Any higher and it's too pricey for me. Again I use Fiala as a comparable. Better winger that got 7.875 and just had his second consecutive point per game season.

Werenski - Severson
Provorov - Jiricek
Gudbranson - Boquist/ Peeke

With Denton Mateychuk and Carson Ceulemans In the cue…

They built a pretty strong Defense. We’ll see about the rest….
They are trying to compete quickly. With Provorov and Severson, in 2 years their lineup should look something like:

Gaudreau-Carlsson-Laine
Sillinger-Johnson-Jenner
Dumais-Roslovic-Marchenko

Werenski-Jiricek
Provorov-Ceulemans
Mateychuk-Severson

This isn’t even including guys like Foudy. CBJ has a very bright future IMO. They’re building a very heavy hitting yet very skilled team.

I would hate 8.5 for Debrincat so much. That’s the kind of signing that sets you back years once your actual top players need new contracts. A Tavares type dagger for your cap structure.
