The trade fires are heating up, time to get excited! Stevie is certainly laying in the weeds to pounce soon.
I sure hope so. It’s time to make some serious moves. Especially when it feels like there are a tun of good players available on the trade front

Apparently Krug is holding up the huge Flyers/Blues trade with his NTC. Should the Wings get involved if the Flyers retained some (4x6.5 left) and threw in picks?

Yzerman has never shown any interest in smaller D. I cannot imagine Krug is an option for us.

How much are the retaining and what kind of pick that is matters massively. I mean if it is a decent chunk then there is a PP upgrade to be had and he can eventually be a solid #5 with PP duties. But that is a long commitment, I would like to see us compensated. Krug would likely take us out of the bottom third of the league on the PP.

Wasting a spot, albeit a bottom pairing spot, on a one dimensional older dman signed until 2027 is a bad idea.

He should go to Chicago for a 1st

I Understand what you meant.

But Technically Krug isn’t holding up anything.
Blues management is holding it up by including a player they are contractually not even allowed to trade.

STL is ready to move and shake. They’re even trying to trade guys they aren’t allowed to

That ship sailed about 4 years ago. He is 32 now, with bad contract and not great performance lately.

Goodrow for Zadina
How bad is it going for him in detroit ?

Not with that contract.

The whole Kevin Hayes to St. Louis trade got so butchered, I'm thinking we are going to come in and fix the deal while coming away with Konecny and in some way swapping 17 for one of the Blues later firsts with a second of ours. Don't think we take Krug but some other deal works it all out.

Something nonsensical like Konecny and Parayko #7 and #10 for #9, #17, both 1sts next year, Veleno, and some 2nds.

I don't want DeBrincat, not even for a 2nd. The guy had great numbers next to Kane, yes, but his production last season? Not even close. I don't like this idea.

Not well…. But it’s a two year 1.8M mistake.

No need to compound it into a 4 year 3.6M mistake.
Zadina might get bought out next year, since he was under the age limit it saves 2/3. Buyout is only $455k the following year (25/26).

At this point, I don't think he has any upside. The 5 games he played post-injury is about as good as he's gonna get, and he couldn't even sustain that level of play.

I think you could trade Zadina to a team like Arizona or Chicago who needs bodies and giving late pick at most. Not a massive contract or a long one, and young enough that a change of scenery may get him going abit. At least for a team who isnt making the Playoffs anytime soon.

How does that help Detroit? Unless someone is willing to overpay on potential that they think they can unlock, hold on to him while his value is rock bottom. He's cheap. Can plug him in anywhere in the lineup or sit him if a kid blows the doors off. That's just a move for the sake of making a move. Same goes for Veleno. If teams call about them? Make them pay for them. Don't just give them away for a 5th.

Here is some food for thought

When he was having "great numbers next to Kane" the year prior he had 2 less assists and 14 more goals.

His career shooting percentage on the Blackhawks was 15.5%, the year before he was moved he had 41 goals he shot at 15.2%
Last year he had 263 shots compared to 270 the year before but he shot at 10.3%. So maybe Kane is the reason he had 5% more shooting percentage, but he was getting his shots and making plays that led to goals all the same.
