1. Holtz is a sniper prospect and those always seem to need 1st or 2nd line minutes and linemates

2. The Devils have Bratt and Mercer ahead of him on the RW so he'd probably end up on the 3rd line in a more playmaking grinder roll which doesn't make use of all his skills.

3. The Devils GM stated that he is trying to get into the 1st round and this is the only way I can see it realistically happening.

4. I don't think the trade I suggested would get the Devils a roster player from another team that would really move the needle. Better to roll the dice again in a pretty good 1st round and find a better fit for the current Devils team needs

Personally I think Holtz qould do well with the wings. They're close to finishing the rebuild phase but still have room at the top of the line-up for Holtz to slot in. Also if I'm remembering the Wings/Devils games it was that the Wings were big and heavy with their forecheck and puck retrieval but didn't have finisher. Seems like a sniper would be a good fit?
Honestly I would be ok with it, but I would probably like to add Zadina for roster space for us and maybe a 4th from you guys added.

With holtz, we could possibly have a player that cou get on the second line with more playing time with his abilities. I have heard sharangovich has the ability to be a 20-25 goal guy and that could be helpful on the 3rd line while he moves up and down the lineup. We can use the 2nd and trade 3 of the 4 seconds we have to get into too 15.

Maybe trade 3 seconds for 11OA + Myers. And add a prospect or something to push it over the top?

Historical data littered with all time great playmakers... And don't forget to add Konecny's D+1 season stats together. They both had 101pt seasons in their 18/19yo OHL season.
Didn't you just say you DON'T want the Wings to add any more middle of the lineup guys, because they already have too many?

Or is a guy with a career scoring pace of 56 points a year somehow not middle of the lineup?

The thing you gotta like about Konecny though, is the fact you get him at a middle line price for two years, so if that is what he is, then so be it. If he's a top 6 then we.got a huge bargain. My bet is that he is a top 6 forward. I'll even go as far to say he will be a 30-40 goal scorer and a 75-80 pointer with the.Wings. I'm all in!

Nobody gives one flying f*** about their OHL stats. Maltby had 50 goals in juniors too.

You don’t have to like Debrincat, but this just seems like a weird hill for you to plant your flag on.

We are interested in Cat because he’s almost a guaranteed 25 goal guy who’s hit 40 before when he played with great talent… for potentially the acquisition cost of a good mid-6 forward.

Debrincat would likely be slotted on line one with Larkin and Raymond in Detroit. At f***in worst, Larkin is Toews’s equal offensively. And Raymond has been a very promising young forward. Kane he ain’t, but let’s not act like Debrincat is gonna ride shotgun with Copp and Soderblom or something.

He’ll likely be line one and get oodles of PP time with Larkin, Seider, Walman, and Raymond.

And if he’s there; we have a second line of Perron-Copp-Kubalik with no other moves, so a line that could potentially do lots of damage if they try to shut down the first line.

Maybe people shouldn't bring up junior stats then.

I don't know who did. Whoever did is a moron. What a guy did in juniors has no god damn bearing on him when he's six years into an NHL career.

Don't understand Pot. Kettle.. because I damn sure didn't bring up juniors stats to justify why I like Debrincat. And hell, I don't even hate Konecny. I'm in the same boat with you that I'd prefer Connor or Keller. But those two aren't necessarily available and if they are, the cost is likely to be prohibitive. Just like it would be for Pettersson or whoever.

Debrincat is guaranteed to be on the market and guaranteed to not absolutely shatter the bank. While you may be certain that "Oh, we could fleece stupid Vancouver or Arizona is run by a semi-literate golden retriever"... that also means when they have a guy with unquestioned value, they're gonna ask the f***in moon for them. They'll be the facebook marketplace of PC selling where someone wants to sell you a "High-end" PC from 2016 for $1500.

I brought it up to be honest as part of a the discussion between Debrincat and Konecny as part of an entire conversation of offensive abilities and upside..

While you may be right.. I am relatively confident that the production level(s) of a player in there respective leagues before playing in the NHL are relevant...

Reading the thread instead of coming in off the top rope to steel chair my post might help.

I wouldn't bank on that guarantee

Durzi just went for a 2024 2nd rounder. That’s a steal. He’s poised to break out. Would’ve been a perfect Hronek replacement.
Good value for him. Not quite the type of RD we need. With Mo, Ed, and Walman we have plenty of puck movers. A righty Maatta would be perfect.

I thought that was what people around here called a "first line Center"?

If people are using first and second year numbers to compare guys rapidly approaching free agency, I don't really think it matters what players get called.
