How many middle 6 forwards do we need to collect? I get that loading up on middling players is all the rage due to Vegas/Seattle but there comes a point where you need to address the top of the lineup. We are at that point.

Then why aren't they gaga over Connor? With PLD, Helle, Wheeler out and being the team that 0 marquee free agents are willing to sign with and on everyone's NTC list. They have to bottom out to rebuild via the draft. Connor will not finish the season in Winterpeg unless the owner wants to plow straight into the "rebuild denial iceberg" just like Mr. I did.

Yeah, but Kubalik had 46 pts that year, this year he had 45 pts on our bad team. If Kubalik can do it, I think Debrincat can adjust here. Maybe he doesn't score 40(I think he can) but if he still just does 30g 40a for us. That's Larkin territory and I take that all day.

I mean we all wanted Meier right? Getting fed by 100pt Karlsson all day, Couture, and Hertl. It's not like he played with no talent.

I think with Trouba and Debrincat there's the whole one-year left and they told their teams they have no intention of signing, and with Werenski it was the Larkin bro thing.

If reports come out that Connor tells Winnipeg he wants a trade, or if like Clayton Keller tells the Coyotes he wants a trade (not saying either of these things will or won't happen), then the hype and expectation around getting deals done for them around here will be the same.

I don't think Connor is realistically being moved, PLD is a sulking baby and doubt he would want to be a Wing, Hellebuyck wants like 9-10 million, and Wheeler is the one guy the Jets actually want to get rid of, very telling to me.

Connor will be interesting. Winnipeg is poised to lose Helle, Scheifele, PLD, and Wheeler. Whole team identity will change with those moves. Does that make Winnipeg hold on to Connor with all their might or does he become a top trade chip in what is now an inevitable rebuild? I don’t know but I think Connor is at least someone Winnipeg would entertain trade discussions about. He’ll cost a pretty penny though.

Meier is a brick shithouse that took longer than DeBrincat to acclimate to the league. He's a 6'1" 220lb 30+ goal scorer that can throw 150+ hits a season. That's why people were gung ho about him.

I get wanting a top 6 forward. Truly. But tying yourself to the first one that might be available is not the way. Trading for and signing DeBrincat for $8M+ to just have Connor (another MI boy!) hit the market later in the summer would be a bit annoying. And yes, I get that DeBrincat is better than our current crop of wingers, but he doesn't have the profile I want to give a $65M+ contract to right now. If we had a big Kopitar/Barkov-esque two-way playmaking center to pair him with? Sure, I'd be less hesitant.

And if the argument becomes, "what if DeBrincat is the only top 6 guy we can actually get?" Well, then we're f***ed anyway.

Toews, as overrated as I think he is, he is (edit) was miles ahead of Copp offensively or otherwise. For his career Toews paced at 68 in 82. Copp paces 38 in 82.

I think that's fair given the 23/24 DRW roster..

Equally as fair as saying as the DRW roster improves, based on all historical data from juniors through the NHL, the likelihood Debrincat puts up significantly more points then Konecny is obvious

Historical data littered with all time great playmakers... And don't forget to add Konecny's D+1 season stats together. They both had 101pt seasons in their 18/19yo OHL season.
