Now consider for a moment that Fil post draft had been as good or better in his career up to the point that Holtz is at now.Yeah, but even jokes about Fil having the talent we were hoping for deflates posters on this board
How many middle 6 forwards do we need to collect? I get that loading up on middling players is all the rage due to Vegas/Seattle but there comes a point where you need to address the top of the lineup. We are at that point.
Those 40 goal seasons on a PP with Kane/Toews are about as meaningful as Kubalik's 30 goal season on that same team.Says the guy who doesn’t want to trade 17 to get a bonafide top 6, top line forward whose scored 40+ multiple times.
Because Debrincat's from Michigan is my guess lol. Those 40 goal seasons on a PP with Kane/Toews are about as meaningful as Kubalik's 30 goal season on that same team.
I'd trade 17 in a package for Connor or Konecny all day every day.
Why is the smallest hill on the trade market the hill everyone wants to die on?
Then why aren't they gaga over Connor? With PLD, Helle, Wheeler out and being the team that 0 marquee free agents are willing to sign with and on everyone's NTC list. They have to bottom out to rebuild via the draft. Connor will not finish the season in Winterpeg unless the owner wants to plow straight into the "rebuild denial iceberg" just like Mr. I did.Because Debrincat's from Michigan is my guess lol.
It's the Trouba and Werenski hype all over again with Debrincat.
Yeah, but Kubalik had 46 pts that year, this year he had 45 pts on our bad team. If Kubalik can do it, I think Debrincat can adjust here. Maybe he doesn't score 40(I think he can) but if he still just does 30g 40a for us. That's Larkin territory and I take that all day. Those 40 goal seasons on a PP with Kane/Toews are about as meaningful as Kubalik's 30 goal season on that same team.

I think with Trouba and Debrincat there's the whole one-year left and they told their teams they have no intention of signing, and with Werenski it was the Larkin bro thing. Then why aren't they gaga over Connor? I don't think Connor is realistically being moved, PLD is a sulking baby and doubt he would want to be a Wing, Hellebuyck wants like 9-10 million, and Wheeler is the one guy the Jets actually want to get rid of, very telling to me.
That's why I don't talk about them.
Meier is a brick shithouse that took longer than DeBrincat to acclimate to the league. He's a 6'1" 220lb 30+ goal scorer that can throw 150+ hits a season. That's why people were gung ho about him.Yeah, but Kubalik had 46 pts that year, this year he had 45 pts on our bad team. If Kubalik can do it, I think Debrincat can adjust here. I mean we all wanted Meier right? Getting fed by 100pt Karlsson all day, Couture, and Hertl. It's not like he played with no talent.
Just for comparison.
Meier 7 Seasons 330 pts Age 26 472 games played
Debrincat 6 Seasons 373 pts Age 25 450 games played
I get why people were high on Meier, because I was as well. I was just bringing up that you seem to never factor in the star players they played with because well that would hurt your narrative. But only when you want to devalue someone else is it relevant.Meier is a brick shithouse that took longer than DeBrincat to acclimate to the league. I get wanting a top 6 forward. Truly. But tying yourself to the first one that might be available is not the way. Trading for and signing DeBrincat for $8M+ to just have Connor (another MI boy!) hit the market later in the summer would be a bit annoying. And yes, I get that DeBrincat is better than our current crop of wingers, but he doesn't have the profile I want to give a $65M+ contract to right now. If we had a big Kopitar/Barkov-esque two-way playmaking center to pair him with? Sure, I'd be less hesitant.
And if the argument becomes, "what if DeBrincat is the only top 6 guy we can actually get?" Well, then we're f***ed anyway.
Meier has led the Sharks in scoring on multiple occasions. Yes, he's played with talent, but for a good chunk of the time he was the best talent there. Ditto Konecny. That's never been the case with DeBrincat. He's like a mini-Hull. Great shooter, but he needs more help than goalscorers like Connor/Meier/Keller/etc...I get why people were high on Meier, because I was as well. Hey if we can get Connor, or Konecny instead I'm all for it. It'll cost more especially for Connor with 3 years left it starts with 9th overall ++. But I have a feeling It's more Barkov/Werenski/Pasta/Trouba/Stamkos and whatever else pipedreams we have had here. Can't wait for the Matthews watch...

I will gladly pay more for the better player.
Toews, as overrated as I think he is, heDebrincat played with kane.. toews is about as offensively gifted as Copp
Konecny played with Giroux did he not? He has never been an offensive dynamo.. not in juniors.. not in the NHL
This narrative that Debrincat is only good cause of his linemates but Konecny was held back because of his needs to stop man.
Well this season Hayes was the next best with 54pts. So not the best help, but Giroux, Couturier and Voracek are not bad guys to have around for a lot of his years.Toews, as overrated as I think he is, heis(edit) was miles ahead of Copp offensively or otherwise. For his career Toews paced at 68 in 82. Copp paces 38 in 82.
Konecny has led the Flyers in scoring 3 of the last 4 seasons. Who was propping his numbers up exactly?
I'm trying to boost Zadinas value so he can fill other teams nets with pucksDid you just say...

Well... 64 of DeBrincat's points came with Kane on the ice, so he probably didn't hurt.So wait..
When Debrincat was #2 in scoring on his team putting up 75plus pts 25 to 30pts ahead of the 3rd best contributor that was ALL because of Kane
But when Konecny put up 60pts, first on his team, but with 3 others all within 5 to 7pts of him, that was ALL because of him?
Come on now
Well... 64 of DeBrincat's points came with Kane on the ice, so he probably didn't hurt.
Biggest overlap Konecny had for his 61pt season is Kevin Hayes sharing the ice for 28 of Konecny's points.
But if your argument is that Hayes is as helpful as Kane... be my guest?
My argument in this grand debate is that those believing we are getting a 40-goal scorer in DeBrincat are in for a rude awakening. The scoring environment in Detroit is much different than what he's used to. Either player on the Wings, IMO, will end up in the same 20-30/30 boat but with dramatically different pay stubs.
Historical data littered with all time great playmakers... And don't forget to add Konecny's D+1 season stats together. They both had 101pt seasons in their 18/19yo OHL season.I think that's fair given the 23/24 DRW roster..
Equally as fair as saying as the DRW roster improves, based on all historical data from juniors through the NHL, the likelihood Debrincat puts up significantly more points then Konecny is obvious
