Really hoping we do something along the lines of trading for a Lindholm or Dubois

Just would love to be able to have a 1a/1b situation at center to help the wingers in our top 6, and I think letting Kasper play top 6 in Grand Rapids and then slot as the 3C would be a good situation for him and his development to not put too much pressure on him early.

The only scenario where I'd have wanted Karlsson on the Wings would be a few seasons ago when they were awful. He would've made games more fun to watch without helping significantly in them winning more.

He's 33, bad defensively (yes, he is), unlikely to repeat his offensive performance from this season, and injury prone.

I know, I know, no way right? However, hear me out. First, you have to give to get. Second, we are liaded with LHD prospects. Three, we need offense!
1. Edvinsson is best LHD prospect
2. You don't trade your best, you trade the surpluss
3. Our surpluss(Johansson, McIsaac, Sebrango, Viro, Buium, Mathurin) alone ain't enough to get anyone of those
4. No point for Florida to trade Lundell without massive overpayment, Zito ain't no dummy he knows what he has in his hands.

Anaheim still tanks, Florida should trade Knight+ for Fowler to fix LHD pool.

I think you'd see something like Maatta to Florida at the TDL for a 2nd

Although I really like Lundell, I don't see any of these trades working for Florida, and I think especially it doesn't make sense for Detroit to trade Edvinsson for guys like Reinhart or Bennett who are both approaching 30 years of age

I like Frost but wait until he tires of Torts and sees his minutes and production dip so we aren't paying full value

Regarding Karlsson

I feel the sharks would want a lot more, especially With 50% retention.

OP’s valuation is a no brainer imo.

I'd rather do the exact same trade, but change Karlsson to Hertl.
Can we do both? Karlsson 4x5.75 and Hertl 7x4.1? Would give us a legit top PP of
Karlsson/Larkin/Ray/Perron/Fabbri.

The 2nd unit could have
Seider/Hertl/Kubalik/FA/Mazur.

Pick 17 this year. Boston's next year. 2 2nds this year plus AlJo and idk maybe Soderblom or Buchelnikov.

SJ just extended Hertl so I can't see any universe where they ship him out and retain 50%.

I haven't seen a "trade" thread yet and didn't want to start another singular trade thread so if the controllers are alright with it, I will start one.

My trade idea is focused on the Panthers. As I watch them through the playoffs, they need a talented young LHD very badly. They currently have two or three defenseman that are signed and produce going into next year so thats a need. What they do have is some talented offensive players so we should be a match made in heaven.

There are 4 guys I target from them: Sam Bennett, Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen, and Sam Reinhart. You may say no way they trade any of them but what if we offered one of our most prized possessions, Simon Edvinsson?

I know, I know, no way right? However, hear me out. First, you have to give to get. Second, we are liaded with LHD prospects. Three, we need offense!

The other key piece to my trade here is the inclusion of Mackie Samoskevich in any deal.

So here are the two deals I would like but would be open to switching to any of the 4 players listed.

Anton Lundell and Mackie Samoskevich for Edvinsson and 3rd rounder 2023

Sam Bennett (2 years left on contract at under $6M) and Mackie Samoskevich for Edvinsson and 2nd this year and 3rd 2024.

We could also substitute Perron or Kubilik instead of some draft picks. However it works, I still think Florida makes for a great trade partner.

A lot of words that are easily refuted by “we’re not trading Simon Edvinsson for anything but a fantasy land haul.”

Further… Lundell is a more valuable piece than Bennett. Why are you trading more for Bennett?

I don't want to deal with EK when his wheels do finally give out for good. Buying high seems like a really bad idea. Hertl might have slightly deflated value right now. 50% retain is probs excessive but 30ish to get him at or just below $6M? That's worth a 1st and prospect. The universe where they trade him is the one where they realized that the expensive team they built was in fact a dumpster fire. Too much money on win now type guys.

Fabbri on that PP... Ick. We just need to not f*** around and stick Kubalik in the lefty Ov hole and let him blast away like at the WC. Don't overthink it.

Ras net, Larkin bumper, Perron and Kubalik flanks, Mo on the point.

PP2
Elmer net, Copp/Kasper bumper, Ray and Hertl flanks, Ed/Walman on the point.

We had games with four eighties on PP1. That's tricky when our righties aren't on the same tier as the Rangers' five righty PP.

I would not pay a dime for a player who will be overpaid.

A) I would pay to get an underpaid player
or
B) I would overpay for UFA, who I don't have to pay any extra assets.

Keep the simple logic at asset management.

Paying something in a trade for a player who is gonna be overpaid = organization killer.

DeBrincat already is a problem for Sens (partial organization killer) and the paid assets just to lose him again... and same is gonna happen for the next buyer.

If the return is too much, then I'm out.
Not even just the return.

Good luck getting him signed to anything not dumb. $8M+ is dumb for a tiny one dimensional winger. No shot he brings anywhere near the on and off ice value of Larkin. Which makes paying him anything near $8.7M dumb.

I get some people don't like the idea but let's get serious here for a second, what were we paying DDK? How about Chariot now? It's at 50% retained. Even if he falls off a cliff. He's 33, 6.5 for 4 more years is nothing. He is also not past his prime or washed up or another Mike Green signing. Dude just put up a 100pt season. When was the last time Detroit even had a 100pt player period? Yzerman? It's been awhile. I mean I'm not even a huge Karlsson fam by any means I also didn't make the proposal it was something I read but a player of Karlssons caliber I'd jump all over it.

After loosing Bertuzzi and Hronek I don't know if make sense overpaid to make playoffs next season, maybe 24-25 season when Raymond, Seider, Berggren, Rasmussen, Veleno and hopefully Zadina in their prime

Rewind exactly one year and ask that question.

DeBrincat isn’t going to cost a lot to acquire AND cost a lot on a contract.

Wanting a big contract is going to suppress how much Ottawa can get back in a trade. Hell, it’s why he is available to begin with.

I think it’s silly some of you are saying you would pass on adding someone who has shown an ability to shoot/score better than anyone we have on the roster. But that’s me. Some people on here were actually against signing Stamkos as a UFA.

Sign DeBrincat as UFA. Good idea!
