So, thats my point. Why have it on the books as an option if its perceived as bad pool. AND isn't that kind of a sideways collusion if all the GMs know that others will F them if they do it? Just do away with it or modify it. Again, not fair to the RFA players if its a known fact that a GM that will actually pay or overpay their worth will get blackballed by all other GMs.

It's kind of old shit from the non-cap era. Now it's just shooting-yourselves on foot weapon under the cap.

Sure looks like the Rangers need some help with cap relief and a decision on Lafreniere. The way Stevie has us set up, we can help with both.

The trade is Berggren, pick 17 and pick 43 for NYR pick 23, Barclay Goodrow, and Alexis Lafreniere

I feel that the former #1 overall is on the cusp of breaking out big time. Get him with Larkin and Raymond next season and good things will happen. AF plays a heavier game and all around game than Berggren so I'm willing to pay up. Staying in the first and only moving down 6 picks is alright and I think Barclay Goodrow is actually more beneficial to us than most teams. Another heavy game and a versatile player. I feel it's a pretty even trade now but once AF gets rolling, its another Stevie steal.

No thanks.

Too expensive for the return, for Detroit.

I saw an article online about a mock draft between the Wings and sharks while most people had a laugh either way I was pretty intrigued by it.

Detroit- Erik Karlsson 50% retained for a first (19th) this year a second this year and Albert Johansson.

Would you do it? Yeah he's 33 and has 4 years left but the Wings would be paying him like 6.5 or something which is pretty beans for a player of his caliber. Coming of a 100pt season would be a HUGE boost to the powerplay and would be first pairing with Seider.

Would give Detroit more flexibility to sign Seider to a decent contract. Both Seider and Karlsson are huge minute eaters as well.

The other thing is would he waive his full NMC to a bubble playoff team? While most say it's laughable that he waives to sign with the Wings, they do have the Swedish thing there and he did idolize Lidstrom growing up.

He is special player , could create offense. If we have good defensively forward to replace EK while he is playing like a forward I said why not. If you use him right way you could get a lot of benefits . I only don't like that he is payed more than 11 million per and if sharks help us with that , why not

Would love to have him, but he doesn't quite fit our timeline, and the cost would be really high.

So obviously Philadelphia is going to fill rebuild now, and they are unloading all valuable assets for futures for a TANK era.

Should we try to trade for a guy like Travis Konecny?

He is Larkin age-mate, and right handed winger. Scored 31 goals at only 60 games last year.

somewhere around nothing
Konecky 22 playoff games, 1+8. Yikes....

Joel Farabee, 23, signed until 2028.
Owen Tippett, 24, righty, nearly a 50 point year, RFA after next season.
Morgan Frost, 24, center, 46 points this year, RFA.
Noah Cates, 24, played his 1st full year and 38 points, RFA.
Scott Laughton, 29, Bert's replacement? Signed until 2026, 3,00 cap hit....

Worth to kick some tires.

Think they'll keep those 23-24 aged, but these guys from older end, Laughton, Provorov, Ristolainen, Konecny could be available.

Only if they take chiarot too
I was going to say no, mostly because I want a C if we're trading, but this is a brilliant post. Money wouldn't be that bad with them retaining some of Karlsson and taking Chiarot.

Walman - Seider
Maatta - Karlsson

That's pretty good for a top 2 defensive pairing, Edvinsson can play opportunistic minutes his rookie year and thrive. Still would have to spend something like 7.5-8 million to just hit the cap floor.

I haven't seen a "trade" thread yet and didn't want to start another singular trade thread so if the controllers are alright with it, I will start one.

My trade idea is focused on the Panthers. As I watch them through the playoffs, they need a talented young LHD very badly. They currently have two or three defenseman that are signed and produce going into next year so thats a need. What they do have is some talented offensive players so we should be a match made in heaven.

There are 4 guys I target from them: Sam Bennett, Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen, and Sam Reinhart. You may say no way they trade any of them but what if we offered one of our most prized possessions, Simon Edvinsson?

I know, I know, no way right? However, hear me out. First, you have to give to get. Second, we are liaded with LHD prospects. Three, we need offense!

The other key piece to my trade here is the inclusion of Mackie Samoskevich in any deal.

So here are the two deals I would like but would be open to switching to any of the 4 players listed.

Anton Lundell and Mackie Samoskevich for Edvinsson and 3rd rounder 2023

Sam Bennett (2 years left on contract at under $6M) and Mackie Samoskevich for Edvinsson and 2nd this year and 3rd 2024.

We could also substitute Perron or Kubilik instead of some draft picks. However it works, I still think Florida makes for a great trade partner.

I guess Lundell is young and promising enough that I can see why someone would be willing to trade Edvinsson for him even though I think it would be a bad idea

it boggles my mind why any Wings fan would want to trade Edvinsson for Sam Bennett though

My super spectacular trade idea is something like a 3rd round pick to NJ for Seversons trade rights.

Jersey doesn't have a 3rd this year, we have 3 2nds. Help shore up our RHDs.

Earth shattering trade I know.

Provorov is a lefty so no need for him and as ricky says he's already traded. Maybe Ristolainen? 4x5.1 seems like a lot from a guy underperforming.

The reason we are stacked at LHD is because Edvinsson is going to be sitting at the top of that pile of LHD. I wouldn't trade Simon alone for either of those two packages.

Pass. Check out EK's last few seasons before this one. Plus he wouldn't partner with Mo.
Didn't realize how much donkey doo he has been for SJ. His past three seasons combined just barely top this last season. Makes you wonder how he managed 100 points. But 50% retained costing DRW 5.75x4? I'd do that I think. Just 1 season of 80 points and that puts us back in the playoffs. Let Seider, Edvinsson, Maata and Walman worry about D. 17 + 43 + AlJo - all three of those won't get you 80 points in a season combined.

The hope is that Mo, Ed, and Walman are much more than just defensive D moving forward. If you take away the bulk of the offensive opportunities for the next 4 years (because where else is EK going to play?), that's not great for the ol' development.

I'd rather do the exact same trade, but change Karlsson to Hertl.
