Trade Deadline Thread (March 3)

With Armstrong's reported ask on Chychrun, not really.

Unless the price comes down, Adams is going to stay where he is at. I wouldn't be shocked if he has the untouchable tag on Rosen, Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, and the BUF 23 1st and he might have it on the BUF 24 1st, as well.

Maybe Chychrun is a guy that he moves one of those pieces for. But, Armstong likely wants 2 or 3 of them.

So, the game of chicken continues...

His .911 Save% this year is good.

His .877 Save% last year and .894 the year before, are not.

My guess is that he struggles to get over a .900 Save% in LA.

They wouldn't still be having discussions if all of that was off the table.

I mean, there are more defensemen than just Chychrun. Are you saying Adams isn't capable of multitasking?

man, I don't know what it's like to be a Columbus Blue Jackets fan, but... While they do lose a lot (which, well, I do know what that's like), at least they're not afraid to do stuff. And if it doesn't work, they try again. It's the "trying" that interests me. This is sports, it's supposed to be fun.

We have no idea what the "discussions" have been other than it appears obvious that Adams has no interest in meeting Armstrong's asking price as it has stood for a while now.

Adams could be offering up stuff like Johnson, Bryson, Portillo, Kisakov, and maybe the '24 1st.

Okposo is done. The guy is terrible. Everything he does is slow. Maybe they sign Girgs, but I have heard he wants to end up in Pitt where he has a home and a better chance at making the playoffs. If the Sabres were out of it this year, he would have been traded there already.

The leadership is coming from Dahlin, Thompson, and Tuch. That has always been the projected takeover.

What a poor decision that would be for Girgs. Talk about leaving a team trending up, for a team clearly trending down. He could play 15 years and not sniff the playoffs once!

If I were a betting man, I would def take the Sabres over the Pens in 2023-2024.

If being a fan of the second best offensive team in the NHL and the team with the 13th best goal differential isn't fun to you...

I'm not a betting man (at all), but I would actually bet on our 24 1st being fully available, and Adams trying to keep 23. The 24 draft...is not shaping up to be good. Maybe the worst since 14.

Im still iffy on Chychrun. Seems like if they do acquire him- they'd play him with Power, and Im not sure how he would perform as a top-4 RD. The assets it's going to cost for such an unknown gives me pause.

Maybe.

I just think loads of fans and media are more willing to part with the 21-23 1sts than Adams likely is, even for Chychrun.

I don't get the pressure on Adams to spend spend spend (assets or $) at this point in time. Seriously who are the Sabres beating in the playoffs? Boston, then Tampa/TO, then Car, NYR???

Chych I could understand with 2 years left, but if Armstrong doesn't come down in price there's no way i'm paying 2+ 1sts in a package. I could see a stalemate and they hold him until off-season or even next trade deadline with neither side giving in.

The fun part to watch will be all the assets that Toronto and Tampa Bay have spent to beef up and one of them is going to lose in the first round.

I dont understand people here who thinks Adams not doing anything. He does the perfect job and works according to the set plan this is not evaluated in terms like if he does trades this deadline . He needed time and needs more time if he just trades away everything he drafted that took time to get he is a bad gm and these are stuff That can ruin a cup. Thats whats he means with we have it in our organization But it Will take some time to take these players to NHL like Johnson , Savoie Kulich rosen Ostlund . We have it here already. He should not do anything major this deadline as we still is going through the set timeline. He needs to draft good again this summer and then guys like Okposo, Anderson, Jost , Hinostroza ,clague , bishop contract, bjork and others like hodgson contract , subban Will be gone . He Will know what he needs to improve then and then he Will be able to get a good goalie that can go with uko, he Will be able to replace Okposo and these players .get a veteran d if needed . Take Johnson in the lineup in the 3 d pair without ruin the roster .

Amazing job setting up our 2 first centers for little over 7 mil each. We dont need to trade for someone overpaid and then we cant sign quinn Peterka Kulich Savoie and these players later.

Amazing job . Hopefully we reach the playoffs But this is not a season we will Will the cup. Next season is a most to reach the playoffs But this is just a bonus.

Exactly. Tampa/TO, and NYR/NJ, 2 of those are losing in the 1st round.

Then, assuming BOS and Car advance. Two more are losing in round 2. There's going to be some salty teams/fans and depleted assets all around in the East. I hope these series are 7 games and the winning goals are all "puck luck", and that's all the GM has as an excuse when going to ownership once their team is bounced.

I absolutely agree with you, but I also think that KA understands the whole "have to give to get" philosophy. My personal theory is that he's offering ONE of the non-Savoie 21-23 1sts as well as our 2024 1st and then not a whole lot more than that.
