Any news about Gavrikov? He's the D i think i low key might want even more than the likes of Chychrun, Ekholm or Parayko after cost is considered.

But I'm afraid that we are done & are going to be forced to play at least one or more of Clague/Bryson/Stillman every game.

trading Joker this year at least to add a dman seems counter intuitive to me. Long term and if we sign Johnson...sure why not

for a better D, I can see that as part of it.
you have Lyub next year, use 2923 1st on RD who coukd replace him. Johnson signed and playing on left side.

next year

ssmuelsson-Dahlin
Power -new add
Who ever- Lyub

24/25

samuelson-dahlin
power- new add
Johnson-ELC
vet D

Kane supposedly moved for a song

NMC, see Hall. You say I’m only going to X you kill the price of return.
I'd retain 50% on Olofsson and move him to the Wild for Greenway. Seems like a decent deal, especially if Granato can more out of Greenway.

It's not like the Sabres haven't been scoring, and Olofsson hasn't really contributed in a while, so it might be a good deal.

Minnesota has a tight cap. Olofsson at 50% vs his salary doesn’t make much cap space.

I can't believe that the Leafs traded the Rasmus that was better than our Rasmus according to Leaf fans :D
I can’t belief washington gave up a 1st…..

There's no way they move Olofsson unless it's in conjunction with other moves. And that's highly unlikely with Adams at the helm

He's on pace to score 30 goals this season.

A 20-30 goal winger at a cap hit just south of $2.4M this year and next year should get you more than what Greenway is currently, especially given that he has a cap hit at $3M for two more years beyond this year.

VO has 9 assists this season. And that is more than Greenway has in points (6).
I don't see it that way. I see a winger who doesn't give much at 5v5 and whose only real high end quality is his shot. Sure, he's made some passes, but it's not really his game. He needs to be on the end of the play, so he's dependent on others to succeed.

Oh, and he's streaky as hell. He's the type that disappears in the playoffs.

Greenway has a different game, and I don't think you can measure that by points as the primary factor.
You mean Montreal for rights to Luke Tuch right?
Yeah, getting my Ms messed up.
Ollie at 50% for Greenway is terrible value for Buffalo.
I don't know, I think for what Greenway could be, it's a good deal. If Granato can unlock him as a 3rd line power winger, you're getting what Tampa got out of Nick Paul. I think that's a lot of value.

Having watched and wondered about Greenway since college, I don’t think he is Nick Paul. If they are gambling, use a pick instead.

That and Minny probably just filled their quota of small perimeter Swedes.

Excellent trade by both I think. Washington is recognizing they are not getting in this year. They trade an older but good dman on a exceptional contract and a very late 1st to get a 22 year old solid prospect dman. Thats how you start getting younger and retooling. If Washington keeps the pick and takes a dman in 2023, it will be 4-5 years before the player helps them. This is basically them making that pick, and paying Gustavsson to accelerate the development process 4 years. Seems like a good trade for Washington.

Maple Leafs need higher end defensive help now, and likely want to trade for one. They will need some cap room and several 1st round picks. They just made 800k in cap space and got a 1st to use in a trade. They gave up a developing prospect, who likely will be a third pairing long term due to his undersizedness. Good trade for Leafs when they use that capital to obtain a top 4 dman. Chychrun to Toronto?

There are alot of good "hockey" trades going on this year as well. Quite a few people have told me that doesn't happen this time of year, only overpaying for rental with picks.

I will wait till the deadline passes to make my final judgement, but so far in looks like quite a few GM's putting on clinics for how to improve their teams and manage the cap.

KA should be looking at any way he can package Olofsson with retention plus mid pick, etc, to return a 1st rounder to use in another trade. Olofsson has value, but will not be on this team after his contract. He will be moved before then, so do it now.

Same with Mitts if the right package comes that concentrates talent or picks into higher level.
