I'd retain 50% on Olofsson and move him to the Wild for Greenway. Seems like a decent deal, especially if Granato can more out of Greenway.

It's not like the Sabres haven't been scoring, and Olofsson hasn't really contributed in a while, so it might be a good deal.

I for one am happy for Kane. He gets to go exactly where he wants, which is 100% justified and in his contract rights. Go rack it up with Panarin. It'll be interesting to see where he goes in the off-season though, IDK how they could fit him in.

I really don't want the Sabres to make any other moves. Like everyone is saying, the East is a blood bath and they aren't quite ready yet to step in the big boy ring. Get a taste in round 1 potentially, hey ya never know what could happen. And lift weights all summer.

I feel minnesota is gonna have to add more then just Greenway. I am ok with moving on from Olofsson but at the right price.

Edit: The Jeannot deal could have really flipped the market for Greenway. Depends how bad KA and Donny want him.

I'd rather have Poolparty in the lineup and Peterka in Rochester (for now).
Peterka has been better this season for Buffalo than Puljujarvi has been for the Oilers. And I do not really see the style fit with this team and the way that they like to play.

If the Sabres are retaining 50% on a guy that can score goals like Olofsson, I would hope that they could get a more proven guy back than Greenway who is a more expensive forward version of Stillman at this point.

I would not use the Jeannot or Hagel deals as any sort of precedent outside of TB's willingness to throw picks around like crazy for guys with low cap hits.

I don't think Olofsson gets that much. He's highly dependant on others to set up his shot, and he's only every been a 20 goal scorer.

I fondly remember getting Jochen Hecht for some seconds or Lydman for a third.

What gets wilder is discussing the trade possibilities goes from the thought of annual summer pricing to many defaulting to deadline cost so it seems every conversation starts with asking for a first round pick.
I not so fondly remember getting Hudson Fasching for 2 seconds.

What's I'd do at this point:

Olofsson (50%) to Minnesota for Greenway (have Minnesota add a draft pick if the value is off)

Rights to Portillo to Minnesota for rights to Tuch

2023 1st (top 4 protection), Rosen, Clague, 2023 2nd (Vegas) for Chychrun.

He's on pace to score 30 goals this season.

A 20-30 goal winger at a cap hit just south of $2.4M this year and next year should get you more than what Greenway is currently, especially given that he has a cap hit at $3M for two more years beyond this year.

VO has 9 assists this season. And that is more than Greenway has in points (6).

Trying to get younger? Gustafsson is having an unreal year, but he's 30 and will be a UFA. Sandin is young, still signed to an affordable deal and has a lot of upside.

Yeah I suppose. Younger, but, not enough time to let the Bruins 1st rounder marinate and produce for them. Interesting, like a quick re-tool. Ovie isn't getting any younger.

Some though (pens fans), might say they're shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic around..
