GDT: Trade Deadline Day

While true - I also just don't think hes someone the Leafs should be going after given the cost to acquire.

This numbers aren't that great the past few years. His talent level is clear, but given what he would cost in a deal - feels like a massive risk.

I was thinking the other day but does the shakespeare monkey theorm apply to the Leafs. You put a thousand monkeys in a room with type writers, and eventually they will type out all the works of shakespeare. You could apply it to the Leafs winning a cup, but maybe it applies to winning a series.
If you put Leafs in a series eventually they will win. I know it's lame but this team leads me to this path:cry:

Fleury being okay with going to Minnesota versus a team, like Washington that wasn't on his preferred list of teams, is weird to me.

Minnesota not even a playoff lock, let alone a contender.

I don't think we see anything Leafs related until atleast 2pm which is when the waiver pick ups are announced. Here's to praying someone takes Mrazek off our hands.
 
Leafs can't do anything until Mrazek/Sateri is resolved.

Team like Buffalo could take the chance at Mrazek. Fans have tiny attention spans and are dooming like crazy but this guy didn't accidentally get a contract. Dubas didn't outbid himself to sign him with no other interest from other teams, the guy had a track record and had to sign for less because of his injury history.

Not saying Mrazek has value RIGHT NOW or wont cost anything to move, but people who think its gonna cost Marleau level of assets (1st) to dump him are out to lunch. Theres no looming Marner RFA forcing any hands here.

Buffalo, Arizona, New Jersey are 3 teams that have a need for goalie, and could possibly claim Mrazek.

San Jose could be maybes, if they move Reimer today.

Vegas could technically open enough space in their LTIR pool to claim him if they wanted.

If Chicago trades Fleury to MIN, and doesn't take one of their goalies back, they could also look to claim him.


So, 3 possibilities, 2 depends-on-what-happens, and 1 long-shot.

Rangers may need a goalie too, if they trade Georgiev as expected.

I have not even turned on SN coverage in (I think) three years... nothing against them, just prefer the clowns on TSN to be honest. We're going to get the same information from both groups.

I imagine they would just call up Kinkaid, and run more of a traditional starter-backup.

New Jersey needs a goalie badly looking at it.

They and Buffalo likely the most reasonable to expect a claim or trade with retention today
 
Motte or Debrusk for the LW are moves I wouldn’t hate, although I hate the idea of giving anything at all to Boston

If Gibson is available Dubas needs to be all over that.

agree. we are flipping out at Campbell’s 914 save percentage. Gibson has been close to 900 for three years.
