I would say they are done, but the waiving of Mrazek to the minors and Campbell injured, with just Kallgren to play at the nhl level, and not knowing if we will even get Saleri?
This just doesn't f***ing make sense.
Something else is happening.
I don't think it will be MAF.
There is some competent mid-level goalie coming, has to be.
It would just be negligence otherwise.
Dubas can't go into the playoffs with question marks in goal. You don't know how Jack responds, Mrazek is a mess and then you have 2 goalies who are rookies.
Can Dubas move money out? Thats the question

Have a feeling we still see something. Even if it's minor. Last year KD added Rittich when we already had Campbell & Andersen. I can't think he's about to roll with a currently hurt Campbell & Kallgren. Either that or a minor depth move could be made like when we got Ben Hutton last year. Could easily see a minor tweak happening. Even grabbing a guy like Craig Anderson would be stabilizing for our crease and likely cheap

This is where Sateri comes into play. He's a wild card but he's insurance. He can play.

The Leafs either trade Mrazek for another goaltender, or they are done in that aspect. They have 0 space for another 3rd string goaltender. They have 3 of those.

I think Dubas himself is going to be waiting until the 11th hour to answer that one. Mrazek, waivers, 2 o clock. That could totally change the layout for Dubas if a team panics and takes Mrazek

I really hope we can trade guys like Duszak/Menell to recoup some mid/late round picks and clear some contract slots.

Duszak will be traded. He's been great lately. A rebuilding team should be all over him to give a him a shot.

Menell might be, but he barely played this year... not sure what's his problem.

I think a team could panic and take Mrazek at 2pm. If so that frees Dubas up to wheel and deal. For a goalie or even another position if he likes what he sees

How many goaltenders do they need? What happens when Campbell is back?

Are they trying to play pokemon with available goaltenders?

Campbell
Kallgren
Mrazek
Sateri
Hutchinson
Woll
Hutton
Petruzzeli
Scott (?)

Campbell - hurt
Kallgren - only 3 games and no real chance for the playoffs
Mrazek - waived and gonna take a while to get another chance
Sateri - will he even pass waivers?
Hutchinson - no chance for the playoffs
Woll - hurt
Hutton - benched?
Petruzzeli - ECHL right now
Scott (?) - hurt

Pretty sure they can drop a couple of these guys without losing sleep and pick up a decent goalie.

Can you really see another team taking a goaltender that makes that much money for two more seasons with an .886% and nearly 4 GAA? I don't see that happening.

Money can always be moved, even if its sending Mrzaek and a b level prospect to encourage Arizona in a trade after Mrazek clears.

I will eat my shoe if Mrazek gets claimed. Ok I won't do that, but I'd be shocked. But even if he clears waivers, it's possible he's traded. A player that clears waivers has value.

I think he'll clear waivers, the Leafs will keep him with the Marlies and hope he can work on his game. Maybe he'll get to a point he's good and he can come back to the Leafs to do his thing. That's my gut feeling.

The Leafs don't need ANOTHER question mark goaltender. Get a proven upgrade or don't bother.

Drop them where..?

What Im saying is that you can keep adding question marks and you'll have the same problem that you have now. There are some that are hurt, but it's not forever. Campbell is back by next week, Sateri who knows, nobody wants Mrazek, Hutchinson is a question mark, Woll will be back at some point. Hutton was a favour to the Coyotes and he's pretty much retired I think.

Add to the top of the list, or don't bother. Nobody will want to give us that goaltender to add to the top for free... so what now?

I will predict it's a fairly quiet day for us.

- Menell and Duszak get traded for late round picks in 2022 (I think LAK and SJS two teams to watch on them, as both sides only have 4 contracted AHL d-men, and could potentially give them a chance on the NHL team, especially LAK with Doughty out now)

- I do think Mrazek gets claimed or he clears and is dealt quickly after in the final hour. Just a "gut feeling"

- I don't think we acquire a goalie, but if we do.... I would keep an eye on James Reimer. Perhaps Duszak/Menell get worked into that deal.

Varlamov
Georgiev
Reimer
MAF
more out there...

For all the bellyaching, there are a ton of guys available to help out and even if we paid a premium, we'd still be in better shape for futures than Tampa or Florida were before the trades began (and they got absolutely fleeced too IMO.)

Hadn't thought of it this way but it would make a lot of sense to approach the situation like this.

So none of these players are available for a small price. They are either too expensive cap wise or it would take a lot for the other team to trade them.

Other than MAF because of his long long long long track record, they are all very similar in production to Campbell, if not much worse (Georgiev).

Why bother paying a premium and jump through hoops for a Campbell replica in production? I don't get it.

Well, Varlamov has a top 5 save% in the league the last 3 seasons and has been to the SF the last two years and was universally thought to have been snubbed a Vezina nomination just last season.

He would be my target.

I'm just looking for a rinning mate to give us solid options and those guys are above and beyond what we have behind Campbell right now.

The last thing that crosses Brisbois' head when Stamkos lifts the Cup again is that they got absolutely fleeced. There is an arms race going on in the Atlantic and the GMs are rewarding their teams by adding significant pieces. They do not give a rats ass about the draft picks. Sure they overpaid but absolutely fleeced, I don't think so.

Varlamov was my choice before Tampa, Boston and Florida got better. Acquiring him pretty much closes the door on Soup returning. I would go cheap and see if I can get Forsberg out of Ottawa. Behind this upgraded D, he might be able to do the job.

Hard to see us doing any more traditional pick/prospect for rental adding. The depth chart is literally overflowing at all positions. Question marks in goal, but still so many bodies.

Healthy roster we're 8 men deep on D that should be playing every night, and have a F reserve of Simmonds, Clifford, Anderson, Steeves with no real holes.

Georgiev, Korpisalo, Dreidger etc. all have Mrazek-esque numbers. He simply can't play in the spotlight. Why bring a goalie struggling in a smaller market into a pressure cooker.

Harri Sateri is likely better than they are based on his track record.
