And if soup doesnt find his groove again after not having it for a few months now? Then what?

Instead of asking me, what would be your solution? Thats 3 posts questioning me now, and you havent come up with a single solution or differing opinion.

What should Dubas have done, oh wise one?

I wonder what the ask would have been for Luke Schenn?

Rielly Lyubushkin
Giordano Brodie
Muzzin Schenn

I think that's a pretty good looking playoff defense

I bet the Leafs have a couple of depth moves in there.

Stuff that Dubas probably didn't even know about or care about to comment (he didn't mention Biega in his Press Conference for example).

How the hell would the Leafs have a move he didn't know about? Who do you thinks makes the trades? Just because he didn't mention Biega doesn't mean he didn't know about it.

On paper? Have you actually watched them play this year? They are scary, in reality
let's not get ahead of ourselves here, they are 3 wins up on the Leafs and the Buds just went through a stretch of a dozen or so games of allowing almost 5 gpg because neither one of the keepers could stop double and triple deflections, in addition to the normal goals that would get by them

This for sure but the goaltending could very well be and dare I say will be our undoing......dubas playing with fire.

Goaltending is definitely important but
  • we allow slot shots;
  • easy tips,
  • odd man rushes against (we had plenty against CBJ and Montreal) - also this regular season
  • don't clear the crease;
  • our forwards don't rush opposition in the d-zone->opposition usually has a lot of time to make plays in our zone. That should not be allowed. Period!

If we clean all this crap in our game; our goalies will start to look better and gain confidence.

They look like a team built for the playoffs. The Leafs as we know over the last few years with this group, are not.

He was a 2D just 10 months ago, let’s allow him to recover from the head trauma and get right first.
Good thing is with the dept h the doobler has added to the blue line Muzz & holl can find their form on the third pairing
Its not his head Im worried about though I do not find Muzzin to be a heady kind of player at the best of times. His speed which he never had a lot of is getting slower, his hitting is getting less, his decision making is meh. He looks like a guy who is playing on fumes at this point in his career.

Solid deadline considering our team/division.
There's too much that needs to be done, I'm glad Dubas/management didn't give in and shorten our window, other then Gio deal but that's a solid price for a quality person/player that fills arguably the most critical need positionally. We certainly didn't plan on Cambell/Mrazek to turn out like this so it's hard to be frustrated by the trades that did or didn't happen, got put in a sticky situation unfortunately. :/ I believe in Jacko

I'm more than ok with what we did and think that it's going to be the core 4 who truly decide where this entire plan goes.

If they show up and dominate but have lousy goaltending sink the team, it sucks but at least you know the core can get it done and look to build off of it next season with some added pieces/youth.

If they again come up short, its time to admit this experiment hasn't and possibly wont work come postseason time and balancing the team out and adding some other elements is needed.

It will be interesting to see how good Giordano is at this current stage.

Match ups are voodoo. The Leafs completely shart against a handful of lottery teams to the point where you want to start your own rebuild and yet the Carolina Hurricanes seem to coax out some excellent team play out of the Leafs. We haven’t played Florida yet, they seem to have a lot more momentum than us in a ramp up to the playoffs but until we see what they’re made of one on one you never know.

Actually, it's quite the opposite. Dubas is calling out the rookie GM because there is a certain norm that is usually carried out between GMs, he's prolly doing what all the other GMs are saying behind Davidson's back.
I doubt that the leak is either GM's fault, probably an agent or someone lower down the totem pole.

Dubas whining to the media just looks childish

I agree with all your points and easy entry has been a staple of this team for a while now so I dont see that changing. We need average goaltending to compete but we need elite to win it all. We have not been getting even average goaltending for a while now. I just see this as our undoing. At least one1 softy ala our ex goalie per game and we are toast.

We treally need blockas yeah. Remember the early days sire... pat quinn team. They had goalies like clarke wilm blocking shots.... etc. Reichel etc. Suckas errrwhere. Now we ain't got even motte. Bonino in san jose has blocked almost ONE HUNDRED shots this season. He that great defensively. We ain't have dat.
