About 10. I saw him get beat wide quite often and have his breakout passes intercepted or miss more than I'd like out of a defenseman with his profile.

Maybe unlucky? I thought he stood up guys quite a bit, ended the rush chances before they began.

My memory is crap but I would ballpark it around 10-14 games for me.

I don't really fault him for his D+1 season struggling in the playoffs, especially since they put Braun on LD for probably the first time in his career at his side.

I see the floor as a top 4 defenseman for Schneider with a chance at top pairing.

Look at how old Liljegren is and he just had his rookie season, defense just takes longer.

Looking to guage opinions, what does everyone think of a Muzzin + 2023 1st (Protected) for Mayfield ?

I can see that but we lose no physicality, Allow sandin playing time on his strong side, gain 4.2 million cap space, and can probably resign Mayfield for 3 to 3.5 long term.

Would have preferred a reason why instead of a gif but thats your choice.
Okay, I’m not interested in opening a huge hole by moving the one brick shit house this D has in the lineup to gift wrap to an entitled undersized slow skating puck moving D. I like him a lot on the ice but he’s gotta earn it. Also doubt muzzin waives for the island.

Eh, I don't like the Europe option from an asset management pov. You're right he doesn't have the leverage, but if the realtionship gets to that poor of a level I'd look to trade him.

That said, a lot of this stuff seems to be nothing but pure media speculation more so than tangible reporting

I hope it’s not the case and we’re just dealing with media speculation.

Completely my own speculation but I wonder if Colorado decides to keep Kadri and let’s say some combination of Nichushkin and Kuemper at healthy cup winning raises. Does it open the door for an outgoing Bowen Byram, (who will neee a new deal somewhere down the line) Devon Toews or Sam Girard assuming they’re dealing from strength? And do we jump all over one of them? And do we have a preference.

The reasons are reasonable but there are also as many reasons to trade Muzzin as well.

Byram would be great but awfully pricey for us.

I think they absolutely move Girard or let Kadri or Nuke walk before they trade toews or Byram.

LeBrun mentioned that Fleury would have waived to go to Toronto at the deadline, so safe to say he probably has no problems playing for Toronto.
He clearly still wants to be a starter and wants to play in meaningful games. I definitely see a fit for him here at the right price...he can still play high level hockey

Girard will be the guy to go, whether it's this summer or next. Byram is pretty close to untouchable status for the Avs, especially given his playoff performance. I don't see a fit here, we have enough Girard like profiles on D.

I don't want to bother with the trades but if you could do something like...

Rielly-Kulak
Giordano-Brodie
Sandin-Liljegren
7th D - ideally physical

How would you feel about that group? I have a feeling we'd be looking for another Lybushkin type at the deadline to add some muscle or something but a 38 year old Giordano or a declining Muzzin shouldn't be the reason we move on from Sandin.

Everything I read today made it seem like Husso is the number one target for the leafs (Mirtle and Johnston, Friedman kind of hinted that they would be a match as well).

Some feelings/dots I have as we head into the busy 10 days or so

1. There seems to be a lot of smoke around Fleury and the Leafs.

2. As expected, seems like Jack Campbell and the Leafs both know he will be able to cash in and that’s the best thing for him to do at this point in his career

3. With CJ linking the Leafs to Deslauries and Aston-Reese, it feels like they might go more physical for the fourth line

4. It certainly appears the Leafs are in a position of Rasmus Sandin or Jake Muzzin. There’s arguments to them both.

A. Taking the step into a top 4 role is hard to do. Can Sandin do so or could he have trouble like Dermott did?

B. Jake Muzzin looked great once he seemingly got healthy at the end of the season and the playoffs. His play earlier in the year still had good impacts, but was a warning sign.

C. How much is Rasmus Sandin asking for? It appears he’s wanting much more than Liljegren signed for, despite not much more (if at all) of a track record. I think most would take the gamble on a 4M deal long-term for Sandin, but what if he’s wanting that money for just 2 years?

D. We saw what a Jake Muzzin likely looks like with Tampa trading Ryan McDonagh. A lesser contract you still don’t really like and a shot in the dark prospect. With Rasmus Sandin, the Leafs could get a big return. Perhaps filling a hole on the right side of the defense, goaltending, or the top 9.

Logic dictates you trade Muzzin and commit to Rasmus Sandin.

5. I’m not surprised to hear chatter of Curtis Sanford joining the Leafs new goalie department. He’s learned under Ian Clark the past few seasons, someone the Leafs reportedly had interest in, in the past.

6. I’m curious of how the forward group is currently frame worked. Have to imagine Bunting, Matthews and Marner will be like 1 once again. Is Nylander viewed as the winger with Kampf and Engvall as we saw had some success, or do they have him penciled in beside Tavares again? This is important because it most likely dictates the type of two top 9 forwards we go after.

7. I found the Nichushkin link mighty interesting. Hard to imagine the Avs letting him go, but would certainly be a great addition if it could be swung

8. Speaking of Top 9 forwards. I wonder where Nick Robertson is slotted on the internal depth chart. Had a great end of the year in the AHL.

9. Finally, Alex Kerfoot. Somehow still underrated but our own fanbase. However I do find it interesting there’s been very little trade speculation around him this close to the draft.

Whitecloud I think avoided UFA and re-signed with Vegas.

Hague as an RFA is the reason he may be available because there are concerns they cannot fit his next contract.
Yes, Long term for ~ 2.75. Under 3 for sure.

Vegas is in heap of trouble.

Don't they already have a guy who went .890 in the playoffs? Seriously one good regular season is not the hill to die on unless he is signing for backup money.
