IDK how I feel about Blackwood. I'll admit I don't know much about him other than what Devils fans have said... and not a whole lot of nice things have been said about him, basically he drops down to his knees on every shot and tries to make himself look big... a risky project imo.

This comes back to logjam all over again but Hague on Vegas is who I would want off of Vegas in a deal for Sandin.
Hague - Liljegren would make for a VERY solid pair and one you can keep intact for many years ideally.

Friedman on real Kyper and Bourne says Leafs are in a situation they didn't expect with Sandin. Leafs thought they would sign him and tell him if he plays well, there would be a spot for him but Sandin doesn't see it that way and is resisting.

Sandin is looking at the Leafs blueline and feels there is not a spot for him there. It's not set up for him to have a fair shot on his strong side on the roster.

EDIT: Friedman doesn't feel this will result in a Sandin trade but perhaps pushes Toronto to make room to appease Holl.

Also thinks Toronto is calling Giroux if he's a UFA July 13th.

If I'm trading Sandin, it needs to be a pretty good young forward or a RHD back. Not sure I'd care for a draft pick or a LHD.

Not gonna pretend I know their value all that well but the Kings have a good chunk of young forwards the Leafs could use. Fagemo comes to mind as a piece I think the Leafs would look at, but they also have Grundstrom whom the Leafs really liked. I think Sandin is more valuable than those 2 options, so another add would probably work.

Kupari could be a good 1 for 1 swap, as well as Vilardi. I don't think they would trade A. Turcotte or Clarke quite yet since they're still waiver exempt.

If I'm targeting a young center in a sandin trade I'm looking at Turcotte, Vilardi, Roy, Raty, or Hayton. A 1 for 1 swap for any of those young centers and I'm fine with it. The young C id love the most is Pinto from the sens but they need a RD or a top line winger and we have neither to spare even with Pinto coming in as a package.

Would like to see Turcotte here. LA has to decide between Turcotte and Vilardi at some point, right?

If Sandin isn't getting in over Gio and Muzzin, Hague wouldn't either.

It doesn't fix the problem that the Leafs have top notch LHD depth, so whatever happens, it will need to be a RHD or at the very least a LHD that plays RD as their position, none of this "well he played one RD game 10 years ago in AAA once".

Acquiring Hague is with the assumption we’d move Muzzin back to LA. Someone like Kupari would be a solid addition.

Muzzin isn't getting traded, that's the whole argument of trading Sandin in the first place.

Would we be in a larger rush to trade Muzzin if Sandin provided his skill set? It's kinda playing musical chairs a bit.

A cheaper younger Muzzin in Hague...although I don't know what his upside ultimately is, he played top pairing with Pietrangelo at times but maybe rock solid 2nd pair D?

Muzzin can then move to open up more space? It's a lot of moves to try to make Hague fit though.

Writing was on the wall when we re-signed Giordano. Hopefully we can get a decent young forward that needs a change of scenery in return.

Sandin sure isn't making a lot of fans with what CJ is reporting. This is a bit irritating to me. Hopefully he swallows his pride though and signs a team contract
A lot of smoke about the apparent "entitled" attitude that was rumoured last year. Seeing Kral is developing quite well I'd have no issues trading Sandin if his contract demands aren't reasonable.

I don't understand this. Schneider got obliterated in his match-ups during the playoffs. He was statistically one of the worst players.
True, but I ask you this, would anyone expect him to do great? Most of his age group hasn't sniffed the AHL alone the NHL Playoffs. Not doing great at his age in the playoffs probably isn't hugely detrimental to what he will be in the future.

We're not talking about an upper echelon dman, but Schneider should be a pretty good second pair guy.

20 playoff games under his belt as a 20 year old. Gotta look at the big picture sometimes.

I'm not a believer in Schneider at all to become a legit top 4 dman. He's tough and big but there isn't that much skill there and his defensive game has never been amazing, even at the WHL level.

That was one of the last guys I actually caught Jr games of along with Kaedan Korczak (streamed).

Schneider was quite good in the WHL, how many games did you take in?

Should’ve traded Sandin when his value was high, as in after the WJC or after his first handful of NHL games.

At this point he missed nearly a full season and has been exposed on the defensive side of the game, so you just get scraps compared to what the return could have been.

He wants to win...how many spots are open with a true contender?

I mean maybe Edmonton has a spot open but do you wanna live in a crappy town like Edmonton?

Toronto. Pitt. Wash. Minny. We are number 2. He already refused wash. He would come here

Toronto would offer best shot to play 50’games. Of course unless Colorado doesn’t want Darcy back. In which case it’s clearly them

That’s literally every goalie save Campbell smith and mrazek

Minny may be blocked by the cap potentially depending on what else they wanna do

You covered Washington.

Pittsburgh COULD work if they let other big pieces walk like Malkin but that kinda removes some appeal

Toronto? Maybe!

Colorado...yea no competing there.

What kind of logic is this? We probably should have traded Matthews too after his value skyrocketed after the 4P game as well.

If the kid feels he's blocked by a 39 year old on a league minimum deal, I don't love his mental makeup.

He also has no leverage, so if I'm the Leafs, I let him play the year in Europe and when the wheels fall off Gio, I revisit a Sandin re-up as opposed to letting his situation dictate a trade I'm not ready to make.

Or if there's a great deal to be had, you consider it.

Eh, I don't like the Europe option from an asset management pov. You're right he doesn't have the leverage, but if the realtionship gets to that poor of a level I'd look to trade him.

That said, a lot of this stuff seems to be nothing but pure media speculation more so than tangible reporting

About 10. I saw him get beat wide quite often and have his breakout passes intercepted or miss more than I'd like out of a defenseman with his profile.
