Chicago really is just not making any good decisions.

I wonder if Borgstrom is the first ever unconditional waiver claim.

Wouldn’t be the worst player to take a flyer on, worst case he can give a few AHL teams some depth at no cost to the big club.

Chicago seems to be falling apart here

Ottawa should sweeten the pot if they want to dump Murray on us.Why can't Dubas hose another GM for once ?

That is literally the idea here

Chicago is trying to make their roster so bad to the point that Toews & Kane decide to waive their NMC so they can move them for assets.

Seems smart to me. Although, they've been getting hosed on trades.

Chicago is reaching Buffalo 2014-15 level of tanking. I hope they draft 4th with these levels of blatant bullshit.

Strome, Kubalik, and Borgstrom were at the very least easy TDL candidates they could have gotten an asset for. Instead they've decided to suck from game 1 of the season.

Borgstrom isn't going to be make them all that much better. To buy him out when you can just bury him for the year and then cut him loose is much smarter than giving yourself dead cap space for no reason. You just never know with players like that and maybe he can be someone that does ok in the AHL enough to garner interest.

Getting hosed in trades < Best Odds of Bedard/Michkov

....Apparently. Davidson has been a dumbass in my eyes since almost the moment he took over, but it peaked with the Dubas losing it (for his standards) in the media. Gotten even worse this offseason.

QO deadline is today.

I predict QO for Engvall, Sandin, Rubins

No QO for Kase, Duszak, Krys, Scott.
This seems right based on what we've been hearing. As I said earlier, I hope a contract with Engvall is nearly finalized. He could theoretically win more in arbitration than the team should allocate to him.

Zub is a tremendous defensive player who faced top competition and had great results for the Sens

He’s the exact type of player we’d love to add to Brodie and Liljegren on the RHD.

Is Zub a gut feeling for you or something else? He's very highly thought of in Ottawa with good reason I think they see him as a key building block and would be very surprised if they would part with him as a sweetener,,,unless it became a very big deal with many components.

If you finish last, the worst you can fall to is 3rd now.

Kinda crazy what chicago is doing though...Who even knows if kane is still there come the start of the season. Seems like it would be tough to moves Toews (even with retention) and obviously jones. Their roster is going to be so bad...

These are some comparable players who signed after an arbitration filing.

He might get a shade over 2 in arbitration. Nothing too crazy.

Why are you criticizing Dubas for a move he hasn’t even made yet? Fair game if he doesn’t get some kind of sweetener back, I think most of us are with you, but maybe wait to see if and what the trade even looks like first…

Because the "Doobie doobie doobler can't do a thing right" club continually speaks without engaging brain activity first.

Much like the Dubas fan club defends him no matter what he does, because somewhere on Twitter they found and will regurgitate some Corsi or other advanced stats that somehow make his decisions logical.

So are people suggesting.

Leafs:
Murray 3.125 and Reimer 2.25 and Lodin .83
Sens:
Holl
Sharks:
Sens player

Underwhelming. Holl for Reimer may be fine as a one-for-one, but Lodin is not really a sweetener.

I really do not see why we would be interested in rentals.

It should be young, controllable assets. If they can contribute right away, then all the better, but I am not overly sold on their prospects and expendable young players (like Formenton, Pinto, etc.).

Zub would be pretty good but would also free up some cap dumps on defense.

Leave out Lodin, and have Ottawa flip something to San Jose for the double Murray retention.

1.5625m + 2.25m
= 3.8125m total cap.

The sweetener is another 1.5625m of cap space to continue to bolster our lineup.
