Carolina was one of the teams that I thought would really want Nylander, but I don’t see an agreeable return. Pesce is great, but not nearly enough.
Agreed, they’d definitely have to add a lot more to Pesce. Necas is another name I’d have interest in. Something like Nylander + Holl for Pesce + Necas would be fair for both sides IMO.

Who are the candidates to leave Vegas given their cap situation?

Rumour is, Smith is 3 years x $5 mil. That would give them $200k left, with 2 players to sign.

It really depends on how they want to go, as it's not that hard for them. They could move Broissoit, bring up Thompson as their backup, and then they would have $2.6 mil left to sign two forwards, and have a 20 man roster.

So, it's not going to be hard for them to be compliant.

Think they need to add something pretty significant to this - a 1st or a good prospect at least. Necas put up 41 points last year.

Where are you seeing that? I wouldn’t be surprised I don’t think Kerfoot is as valued as people think.
I’m not surprised either. He is way too easy to contain and keep him outside the perimeter.

We need to replace him with a player that drives the net, and that’s up to the Leafs to figure out.

Sure but that package isn't picks and prospects, this isn't a rebuild you don't just remove 35 goals and 80 points
Yeah, this is obvious. If you're trading Nylander you're looking either for something of around equivalent value or a player who gives you a different look on the second line. For example, I'd be willing to trade Nylander if the centerpiece is a guy who scores a few less points, but is a bit harder to play against. Or someone like Hellebyck.

Mmmm ...I think people why underrated value of top 2-3 D...

Just take in consideration than the best D Edmonton was able to get for taylor hall was larsson.. ottawa declined to trade Ceci for hall...

Leafs MUST trade for Helleybuck if the jets are willing to blow up their core

that's the roster I'd like to see if might be tough because Kuemper will cost some money and it depends on if Kase can even play
No thanks to Kuemper. He's going to get a contract that's wildly out of sync with his skill and it's going to be even worse if Colorado manages to finish this off.

I don't think that is overly surprising... We will see in a few weeks when his bonus is paid how many teams are interested.

I'm not sure why the Leafs can't find any suitors for him yet. He's a versatile forward that can score 15-20 goals without getting any significant power play time. He averaged 7 seconds for the season. That's basically at the tail end of a power play.

I mentioned this before, but it's about getting ahead of free agency for making some of these deals. Once you see the first wave of free agents signed and getting into the weeds of vet minimum contracts, his ticket isn't going to look amazing. So set out for a reasonable price and take it. The longer it goes on, the lower the negotiating power goes.

If we're talking Kerfoot, I think he'll be far more valuable once his bonus is paid out. With the weird schedule this year because of the pandemic, it works in the Leafs favour that his bonus gets paid out before free agency and the draft.

No deal is going to happen for a few weeks anyways and I am not trusting too many rumors these days... especially pertaining to the Leafs.

When it formally comes out as a rumour and is not just discussed in a podcast or speculation piece, then we can start being more concerned.

Worst case, there is room for him on our team.

He's a proven legitimate #1 that's what counts. We need to stop with the loser attitude

You hope that it's not the worst case scenario. I guess that's the case in most situations too.

I think they have framework on a couple different trades.

Dubas will not trade nylander
He has already said so

Willy is a point per game player who sucks defensively and is atrocious 5v5

He disappears for far too many games

He has the whole package too bad he cant put it all together

He's a proven legitimate #1
You keep insisting that. I say if Kuemper is a legit #1, so is Campbell. Their numbers are very similar.

The difference is, there's a good chance some idiot team out there gives Kuemper $8-$9 million if the Avs win this year.

I dont think so, carolina looking to win in playoff and the player who give up the best chance to win in playoff, its Pesce...

Pesce is the canes Ryan Mcdonaugh...a darkhorse than no body talking about but making a tremendous job by shuting down his opponent
yeah no its not.

They lost cus lke the leafs they couldn't score.
