Yeah its a interesting option but I wouldn't expect it to happen. Too many other moving parts right now.

He'd be a really good reclamation project (big, good skater, RHD) if it weren't for his cap hit. Definitely makes it difficult for a cap strapped team like the Leafs.

We are trying to win right now, and he'd be a downgrade. I see the potential, and wanted him at one point, but I don't think that makes sense for a team in win now mode.

What does everyone think of a kerfoot + 2nd for soucy + Appleton and dermott for delauries trade ?

Dreger says Leafs were in on Hagel + Fleury for Knies, Mrazek and it sounds like a 1st and possibly more. Leafs didn't want to include all of the futures/Knies.

I have a lot of interest in Hagel but not at the cost Tampa paid. I'd rather keep Knies and take a run at getting both him and his linemate Ben Meyers signed.

I prefer Kerfoot alone to that package & I'd rather keep Dermott than acquire Deslauries. Having Deslauries, Simmonds & Clifford is a bit overkill to me too. I think these deals make them worse.

Winnipeg is not really that far out of it, and they don't really have a lot to sell anyways.

I could see a deal like Copp for DeBrusk and a pick. DeBrusk is someone who can still help them be somewhat competitive this year but also has that control and upside for a re-tool. Copp is someone who fits well for the Bruins.

Other than that, no idea what kind of market will be there for Stastny after his vaccine comments, and he has been a fixture in the WPG lineup anyways. Seems like he will stay put.

Dallas is in limbo. Probably too many holes to fill to be a really competitive team, but then they also aren't moving Klingberg?

Nashville needs to figure out F. Forsberg first, but I can see them adding. Maybe even a larger piece like a Boeser/Garland (and tack on Schenn for some defensive depth). Maybe get a better backup like Forsberg and some better depth for cheap. Nashville could make some noise with that lineup.
