Absolutely no way you resign Campbell. Nothing worse than a goalie who has confidence issues and mentally weak. Its not like a knee injury that you can get a surgery and get it fixed

He had 3 good months when half of the league was missing their players due to covid

There are goalies entire good seasons and still couldnt regain their forms. Like leighton, hambrugler.

For his sake he should sign with Arizona who has like total of 7 fans

So, would you consider moving him today for a rental?

I look at Campbell like I look at the Islanders. Covid conditions seemed to create the circumstances (not just protocols and stuff, covid was just a wild ride overall from 2019-2021) needed for them to perform. Now that NHL is back to normal more or less, Islanders and Jack went back to normal too.

Unless the rental comes at the cost something like a 3rd. round pick or Dermott (probably gone anyway) why would you mortgage the future for this team this year?

Pay full price for a player with term/rfa.
Dubas doesn't have the luxury of time any more with the Leafs at 5 first round exits already and some key vets aging out. If you are speaking as a fan, given the issues in goal and the D, I agree this isn't, the year to spend, but from the clubs POV they need to make the most of their window..So if they see Fleury as the best available option and the price comes down I can see that, especially if the deal somehow moves Mrazek out. Paying extra for the guy with term only works if you can get the difference maker you want. Now maybe KD doesn't have any more faith in Fleury than Campbell and thinks Geo is past his expiry date so guys with term will actually be his first choice. The biggest reason I think he rents is Muzzin, because that $5.625 is back next year stacked on top of Chychrun or whatever they pay Lindholm to keep him so one and done like Giordano fits. The only adds with term would have to be dollar in, dollar out right?

Whos going to take him?

Contending teams wont trade for him and rebuilding teams will until summer.

For better or for worse. We are stuck with him

I wonder if DeMelo could be someone they sell? I know the Leafs have had interest in the past, and he's signed for a couple more years.

I think the Leafs would offer a good chunk of picks/prospects if they could swing for DeMelo and maybe Copp as well. Seems too ambitious cap space wise though.

Ive been always a massive stastny fan since I loved sakic and the avs...dont think he'll fit here but I hope he finds a good spot.

Hagel makes only 1.5 million for 2 more years... Tampa once again paying for term and cap flexibility. Meanwhile dubas will probably use the few assets we have left to buy a ufa we can't afford to re-sign.
The only time he ever did that was last year with foligno, which funnily enough was the guy most anti Dubas types around here wanted him to add at whatever cost because truculence or something

Personally think we should give him a two year deal, move Mrazek instead. It helps a ton of our cap situation at low signing situation.

Kyper was talking about him the other day. Thinks his game isn’t ready for the pressure here. Domi is not good defensively and he would be pressured into being something he’s not. I get what your saying, but we don’t need another Kadri like suspension wasting whatever cost it would be to rent him.
Broken clock theory at play here big time, Kyppers an idiot but he’s right about domi not being a fit

Comtois...

I like the idea of a Comtois trade. I believe that would be better suited to being an offseason addition.

He's had wrist surgery, and Covid this year... he's not at his best, and might not be able to contribute at the rate we'd want. Give him an offseason, and a new start, with a new team, and he'd be a great addition next year.

If the Leafs plan is to sign Knies and get him into some NHL games once his NCAA season is over, I wonder if Ben Meyers would consider coming with him. There's been talk of the Leafs looking to re-vamp their 4th line and Ben Meyers would be kind of perfect for that. Speed, skill, grit and he's 23 years old.

Could be an option.

the trades that were going on...a lot of them seems i dunno not enought o quench my thirst for getting something lmao

The worst thing the Leafs could do right now is make a panic move because they think their window to win is closing.

That would just be perpetuating a problem that has existed with this franchise for decades.

Outside maybe Fleury there’s no player on the market right now that is going to make a big enough difference for this team. At this point they either have what it takes or they don’t. A guy like Lindholm or even Giordano isn’t going to change that.

Miraculously this team actually has a decent prospect pool with some potential real good players coming along. Super important they keep these guys to provide better roster flexibility in the coming seasons.

Trade dermott for Giordano.

It really should be this straight up. I only want Gio because it will be more bang for buck relative to other available options. This works for all parties involved We get a LHD on his last hurrah for a younger LHD who has the tools and needs a change in scenery.

I don’t disagree at all re: panic moves. Don’t make them. However, there are definitely some clear spots we could use some assistance. I think a couple small, but smart acquisitions to bolster the 4th or the depth D could go a long way.

I think Vlad Namestnikov is the top of my rental list depending on price. Just a huge amount of versatility and bang for the buck there. Overkill as a 4C but assuming Kase sticks on the right of Tavares and Willy a Kerf-Namestnikov-Spezza line is a filthy depth mismatch weapon, and if we hit injuries he could fill in anywhere but 1C/1RW/2RW.

Pretty surprised to see Phillipe Myers on waivers from Nashville. Was a really promising defender coming up with Philly. Was part of the Ryan Ellis trade in the summer.

It's an interesting move for sure, but he's disappointed for his $2.5 mil price tag. When he was a promising player with Philly, he was a guy whom I thought we should target. However, he just hasn't progressed.
