Riemer & Gadjovich
for
Mrazek, Duszak & Anderson
I hope you’re right. Reimer would be an awesome backup to have. Signed for another year at a very reasonable cap hit and is someone I can see getting re-signed to stay as our backup as he gets closer to the end of his career.

Assuming we aren’t adding a goalie, I’d like one more forward, though that depends on Kase’s health

though I suppose maybe Knies gets a shot in the NHL, or Robertson comes back up. Maybe Joey Anderson.

But I see our lineup as the below

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Blackwell-Tavares-Nylander
Engvall-Kampf-Mikheyev
Kerfoot-Spezza-Kase/other

Rielly-Lybushkin
Gio-Brodie
Muzzin-Liljegren

I would be fine with it if it moved the needle more, but I don't think going from Sandin to Giordano is worth 2 2nds (I think Blackwell for a mid-3rd is reasonable).

EDIT: Would have made more sense if we got a top 6 forward or a goalie with those picks instead.

The other concern now is contracts. We need to dump some.
Fair. Gio’s metrics show he’s still a reliable defender, despite his offensive regression, and we need defense in the worst way. I don’t know much about Blackwell, but Seattle fans aren’t happy losing him, and are quite confident that he’s a good energy add for the bottom-6, so I’ll take it.

I’d still like to see a top-6 forward and some goalie insurance, but I suspect we’re not finished in terms of dealing.

I don't think that is in the cards. We added Sateri for goalie insurance. I don't see us moving the assets for a top 6 forward unless a guy like Kessel/Domi goes for super cheap.

Maybe some shrewed depth moves, and some moves to open up some contract spots, but that is it for the Leafs. Kerfoot/Kase/Blackwell will compete for a 2nd line job.

So where does this leave us? Are we rolling with

Bunting. Matthews. Marner
Kerfoot. Tavares. Nylander
soup. Kampf. Engvall
Blackwell. Spezza. Kase/simmonds

Gio. Brodie
Rielly Bosh
Muzz. Holl/sandin

Campbell
Sateri?

Really??

Or
Is there more room

Definitely like the depth on the blueline and the extra help at forward. The goaltending appears to be a wild card.

I feel much better today though about going into the playoffs with a backend of:

Rielly-Lyubushkin
Giordano-Brodie
Muzzin-Holl

Blueline full of big bodies. Rielly would be the smallest guy at 6'1". Allows Muzzin to not have to jump right back in to huge minutes either coming off back to back head injuries. I know some people will be wanting Sandin or Liljegren in the place of Holl, but I doubt the coaching staff does that tbh

I still think it’s a travesty that we are electing to sit both of Sandin and Lilly in favour of this lineup, but it could very well be marginally better this year. Personally I would replace Holl with Lilly and Sandin takes the 3LD if/until Muzz returns.

Johan Larsson out of Arizona would be a nice 4th line C add. Would give us a new look 4th line of Blackwell-Larsson-Simmonds/Spezza for the playoffs. Would bring some good intensity
