Muzzin and Liljegren would be a pretty solid 3rd pair.

I get why people like Lily, but he makes too many mistakes with the pick, he needlessly skates himself into corners and needlessly gives the puck away. He plays exactly like a guy in his 1st year in the NHL would. He's a liability defensivly.

That doesn’t mean he isn’t better than Sandin.

Mentioned this in the Gio thread. But one has to wonder if the reason for such a delay in details is the Leafs have something else on the go.

Usually we should know the return by now...

There has to be multiple trades at work. It's not a coincedence our goalie got dropped to waivers
few players got dropped to waivers

NHL is probably reviewing the caps vs what's coming in.

But I would suspect there are multiple deals with multiple retentions

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
_______ - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev - Kampf - Engvall
_______ - _______ - Kase/Spezza/Simmonds

Rielly - Lybushkin
Giordano - Brodie
Muzzin - - - Holl*
Sandin* - Liljigren*

Colin Blackwell is not a bad option for our 4th line.

He is small and not super skilled, but he plays the game hard.

As a guy who can allow Simmonds and Spezza to rotate on our 4th line, he will fit in well. Not too many guys out there who can do better than him for that unless you want to pay a stupid price for it.

Hope we still get Middleton.

If it came down to Middleton vs Gio, I probably would have went with Middleton.
Agreed on wanting Middleton still. Between the two, Gio is the superior player by far though imo Still a 20+ min eater and an all situations player. PP & PK. But adding another big body who plays hard would always be welcome with how fragile this team is when the tempo picks up

I wonder if mrazek for another goalie is bundled into this somehow

doubt it ... there is only 2 trade imo that makes sence.

for montembault or primeau ... habs trade allen to some other team for picks and value. and they basically need a goalie to tank this year and next year.
for greiss ... detroit cant win with either guy and greiss has been even worse than mrasek this year.

everything else would require a massive sweetener

imo the leafs should just trdae him for futures and retain 1mil for 2 years. at 2.8 lots more teams would be interested.
