Patrick Kane makes almost no real money the next 1.5 years. Should be pretty easy to get a team like Ottawa or Buffalo to retain extra and it would be absolutely worth the price if he was available/ wanted to come here.

Chicago retains 50%, Ottawa/Buff retain 50% of the remainder and as long as Mrazek goes out the door somehow and Chicago is interested in a futures package you can add him without moving somebody else.

Might cost you a Robertson/Knies/picks but he would be an insane add for two playoff runs.
Will cost more than that. He has barely slowed down pacing for around 95 point years following his 110pt year of 18-19..He would cost everything they have in the cupboard. and they would only have him for 2 playoffs. The once in a lifetime overspend they already used on Tavares.

With the prices for rentals i would be happier if they just go small game hunting a few cheap adds for midling prospects .. seeing whats going on in vegas shows you dont screw with chemistry or the sky can fall
I'd argue the injuries have been Vegas' issue more than any sort of chemistry issue.

Although it would be amazing and very creative to acquire Kane, he’s a RW’er. Unless he, or one of Willy or Marner can play on the left side, it wouldn’t really fill a specific need. Or am I wrong? It wouldn’t be the first time and it sure won’t be the last. Lol

Kane in, Willy out after the season for a Dman.

More balance.

Fixed. Lack of scoring wingers is not this clubs weakness. Pick one of the top 20 D in the league and overpay for them.

Hagel makes only 1.5 million for 2 more years... Tampa once again paying for term and cap flexibility. Meanwhile dubas will probably use the few assets we have left to buy a ufa we can't afford to re-sign.

Man those are good dreams.

I'm just hoping gio at right price. And if domi traded. Get him if we need a fwd. (That's because wife was a domi fan so helps get her listening if I talk leafs)
I know the Domi idea isn't popular around here, but I have a gut-feeling that he would play like an animal if he was a rental for us. Can't prove it, just fortune telling.

Kyper was talking about him the other day. Thinks his game isn’t ready for the pressure here. Domi is not good defensively and he would be pressured into being something he’s not. I get what your saying, but we don’t need another Kadri like suspension wasting whatever cost it would be to rent him.

Is anybody else reluctant to want Dubas to invest in rentals based on what our goaltending looks like right now? I am thinking they should run with what we have and if they mess up, it’s time to break up the big 4 and retool.

At most I would get cheap depth guys who will only go in if there is an injury. Maybe give a Knies or Steeves a look down the stretch here.

We have some decent depth on D once Muzzin comes back. 2 of Holl, Sandin, Liljegren and Dermott will be sitting each night.

Again Goaltending is the biggest concern.

Willy could definitely move to the LW. He’s played plenty of it through his career. I just don’t see how we’d fit Kane though. Adding Kane into our top 6 would be ludicrous though lol

Willy played left at world champs but Willy would have to be moved for this to happen

From Luke Fox quick shifts: 12 fast trade notes

5. If the Dallas Stars — a pandemic-damaged organization that would love some playoff gate but doesn’t resemble a true contender on the ice — are really standing pat and hoping for a wild card, why were they sending multiple scouts to so many Maple Leafs games in the lead-up to the deadline?

10.
Travis Dermott appears to be replacing Timothy Liljegren on the right side of the Maple Leafs’ third pairing Saturday night in Nashville.

Some wonder if it’ll be Dermott’s final game as a Leaf.

We wonder why he was healthy scratched all week after playing his best hockey in February. Was it an injury-prevention thing?

Despite his sporadic usage and falling out of favour with the coaching staff, Dermott has been a plus-5 since November.

I was talking about it a bit yesterday. I wonder who Dallas is interested in. They won't nesscarily trade with the Leafs but seems like something is up.

Could see them as one of the teams asking on Engvall, who should absolutely not be moved.

Yeah maybe that was it. He won't be going anywhere. Neither will Mik.

They drive me nuts sometimes but that line in all honesty has been really good the last long while.

Mik is really good on the pk. He's very fast. I just wish him and Engvall had more finish and played the body more.
