Absolute ridiculous for Hagel. I don't give a shit if he has 21 goals or whatever and he's young.

No way he's worth that.

Good for Chicago. Terrible for Tampa and good for us because they're in our division.

Hagel isn't tipping the scales for them. They're already good. Crazy trade.

If those are the prices I wouldn't be doing much.

21 goals on 22.3% shooting. He's going to trend back down to a more sustainable level, and be worth nowhere near that. Insane.

Lol that's crazy. No way he stays like that. I think this will look bad in a couple years. I get they're going for it but that's nuts.

Yea you know what. I hope Dubas stays put this deadline.

The past few trades have been absurd overpayments.
Jarnkrok went for a 2nd, 3rd and a 7th
Hagel for 2 1sts and 2 young bottom sixers
Chiarot went for a 1st, a b level prospect and a 4th.

It didn't look so bad when it was just
Manson went for a 2nd and a b level prospect.
Vatrano for a 4th.
Those are two deals that are tolerable.

Wonder what this does to other rentals prices?

For Forward
Miller, Garland and Boeser's prices will be astronomical.
Gotta think Giroux gets at least a 1st + and A prospect.
Copp a 1st + B prospect
Stastny a 2nd
Lehkonen a couple 2nds

For dman I'd guess
-Lindholm | a 1st, a 2nd, and a good prospect/young piece
-Mayfield | A 1st + a good prospect
-Giordano | a 1st + mid round pick
-Braun | a 2nd + late pick
-Middleton | a 2nd + late pick
Lower tier guys like: Schenn, Hagg, Kukan, Kulak | 3rds

Probably a good thing we got Lyubushkin for Ritchie and a 3rd or a distant 2nd out of the way.

Sounds to me like this is Tampa's last big run and they're gonna blow it up (in a few years). x3 and then let the team run it back with no major trades next few years at the TDL

This is why some GM's make their trades months ahead
I think Kyle would have done that. Except for our goalies changed the entire game plan for the org

Goalies wasn't even a priority up until 6 weeks ago

Did they though? Those are going to be late firsts. They gave up a player with 3 years of control, who is only improving and signed to a decent deal

They receive excellent value for sure. He may be young and improving but he’s carrying an unsustainable shooting percentage, and is more of a complimentary guy. Hawks did well in selling high on his value.

Late or not, two first rounders are still quite good.

The Leafs may need to start sniffing around the 3rd tier market.

Namestnikov (DET)
Sanford (OTT)
Hinostroza (BUF)
Johansson (SEA)
Tierney (OTT)
Blackwell (SEA)
Larsson (ARI)

I am not convinced the Leafs bring a guy like Galchenyuk, Kessel, Barabanov, or Ennis back in the fold. I would also include Nick Paul, Tyler Motte, and Max Domi, but I suspect they go for inflated prices too.

If we move Dermott:
Gustafsson (CHI)
Kukan (CBJ)
Hagg (BUF)

We may just wait until the TDL though. See if there are any last minute bargain deals.

Those 1sts, if we’re being honest are really like 2nds....so, if you think like that...2 early 2nds and two bottom six players for Hagel and 2 4ths isn’t really all that insane.
Yeah if Jersey said take their 2022 1st, Hawks don't even call Tampa back for these 2 firsts.

Lots of time for Tampa to get a 2024 1st back too. That pick is more like a 2022 2nd, which is like an early 2022 3rd.

I think it's just the initial shock that makes it seem very huge. When you start to break it down further it's manageable. I'm sure Tampa has a long term plan in place.

If Hagel turns out to be a one year wonder though......ouch.

If my aunt had a wiener she'd be my uncle as well...

Skin it however you want. Late round or not, those are 1st round picks. Potentially 2x Rasmus Sandin level players for a guy who is performing at an unsustainable level and even at that unsustainable level is still just over a 0.5pt/game player. It's f***ing insane TBH.

I think Toronto city could light a fire under Domi. He has decent hands

Yeah Tampa, Boston and Florida are always in on everyone

Seems like Boston is losing out on all of the bidding wars.

Although it is looking more likely that they land a guy like Lindholm, Giordano, or Chychrun right now. They can offer up DeBrusk build from there.

Is Hagel something the Leafs don’t already have? Two 1sts, doesn’t matter if they’re 32nd overall - that’s two years in a row with no picks.

Lots of big game out there with FLA and TB already shooting their wad - Chychrun, Klingberg, Giroux, Miller etc,.

They could do that on the first two anyway. Fairly certainly Arizona would not be interested in that basis

Must be nice that all these teams so far have their best players under a very manageable cap

Few years ago I really thought we would be the team that everyone would fear in this division. That we would be the one dictating what moves everyone will make. More and more it seems we are falling behind the group in so many ways
