GDT: Trade and Free Agency Thread - 2021/22 PART X

Crazy question but if mrazek was placed on waivers could a team with his NTC take him?

Not saying it would come to that but would it be possible?

At this point, I just want this to happen. Just so the people that insist that this team is too soft can finally get what they want. Just f*** it and do it.

I want Ben Chiarot, Jacob Middleton, Zach Sanford, Andrew Copp, Nic Deslauriers... bring them all. Give up anything and everything to make it happen outside of Matthews.

Same thing happened last year with Foligno, and this offseason with Ritchie.

I suggest we don't do what people want.

So with the Chychrun situation, if the Leafs had any serious thoughts of trading for him, do you think Dubas should still chance it?

I'm sure they will, cause Landy will go on LTIR and they go get a forward, they need to win before they have to pay, BigMac

This is an odd reaction. I didn't suggest giving up a 1st rounder for him so not sure how this correlates with Foligno.

The team gets pushed around every year. Also weird that you would throw Copp onto this list of players that you don't believe are good. Copp is a very good player.

They need some of their best players to tougher like Point is for Tampa and Marchand has always been withBoston. Players that are going to be on the ice the most need to play bigger and tougher. Of course if everyone was as mean as TB that would ideal, however they don’t seem to be interested in that and are content where they are.

I don't see any of our top assets (Robertson, Niemela, Knies, Amirov, 1sts, etc.) being on the table. Hirvonen, Dermott, Abruzzese, SDA, Miettinen, and our 2nd this year are probably the most valuable assets we will be using... And that should be more than enough to get a Varlamov/Fleury (with Mrazek going the other way) and I am not spending assets on anyone else besides maybe McBain's rights.

Mrazek might actually cost something to unload. He's been really bad and that's a hefty contract.

Meh unlikely. Look at all the bad goalies this year with as much or more in money.


He won’t get much but you won’t have to add.

300 games doesn’t go away at 29

I didn't suggest that either. I just said to get those players.

This team gets pushed around and never win because of it, might as well do something about it.

Especially when you only played a dozen and a half games and only really started playing in January.

I have no doubts other teams would give him another chance, just like Ritchie. You don't go from a guy who is worth 3.8 mill a year to being less than worthless in a small handful of games.

This is as silly as fans who criticize adding skill because the Malgin trade didn't work out.

Physicality matters in hockey which is why teams are always looking to add more of it, but it means nothing if the player can't play. This is not hard...

No one has suggested going 'full Brian Burke'. That was quite a strange reaction to stating that Chiarot at a reasonable price wouldn't be terrible for this team.

It does matter. That's why I'm saying to go and get it.

I want the fans to get what they want and I'm all for it. I just want Dubas to channel his Brian Burke and just go full meat head. Grab those tough players, be tougher to play against and make sure we don't get pushed around. It's probably the biggest issue of this team.

Physicality is important but they have to be able to play .. Simmonds is plenty physical but the rest of his game makes him a pretty non-impactful player on the ice.
