He’s their number 3 guy and Muzzin is our number 3 guy.

i don’t understand why you get so defensive whenever anyone says anything negative about the leafs.

The fact that muzzin is our #3 and skjei is their #3 should tell you something about our defense corps.

Also still thinks Holl and Dermott could be traded

Makes sense. So if you read between the lines from insiders and even Dubas, they really want to probably make a big addition if the player has some sort of term and is obviously an upgrade.

I don't see the Leafs trading away Dermott or Holl if there isn't a player being acquired. If the Leafs want to cut cap space, it can be done in the off-season and their value won't be much different than now.

Good for Dzingel. In a way I’m glad he got claimed as he’s an NHL level player. I’m sure he’s happy to go play in San Jose opposed to playing for the Marlies. Opens some much needed cap space for us as well.

That's a big overpay.

I'd overpay for a top 4 RD but I wouldn't for another winger.
It's a bit of an overpay so that might not be the price exactly but Tuch is a centre, Kamf gets pushed down to 4th line and Spezza to the wing. Third Line of Engval Tuch Kase is pretty good. just spitballing of course ;)

Yeah - and if he does move out holl/dermott for an upgrade somewhere else he's going to end up adding another D to get us back to 8 anyways.

Alex Tuch is not a center.

You're right for some odd reason I thought he was third line centre for Vegas. I'd still go after him in the off season at least he's wasted in Buffalo right now and his age size and game fits the window we have.

Wasn't sure if this was ever posted from the other night. Since it's silly season...

This probably means nothing. Some of these teams Leafs will play soon... Columbus etc but be interesting to see who may be scouting the next couple of Leaf games.

Also curious to see who the Leafs have been scouting recently. Its usually a bit hard to find out much on the scouting info.

The Sharks waived Lane Pederson after claiming Dzingle.

I'd throw a retaliatory claim in. Pederson's a RH centre, something they've identified as a need in the past (Amadio, Nash, etc.).

Essentially their version of Brooks - 24, PPG AHL player, AAAA tweener, who can provide size and depth. He's always stood out to me against the Marlies.

Definitely wouldn’t be opposed to acquiring Tuch. Would look good with Nylander and Tavares.

According to Capfriendly, now this is without Sandin on the roster, imagine that deadline capspace would be higher if Dermott goes back in a deal at the TDL or Holl.

CURRENT CAP SPACE

: $1,531,462
DEADLINE CAP SPACE

: $2,603,485
TODAYS CAP HIT

Are you sure you are not confusing Pederson with someone else? Pederson has only played for Tuscon in the AHL, and the Marlies have literally never played against Tuscon.

Easy pass for me. He is not an NHLer, he's as much of a center as Seney is, and I would rather just use our own guys.

Tuch is looking damn good as a return for eichel now I really don't think they'll move him. Tuch-Thompson is looking like a beastly line to really build around.

Definitely wasn't a game against the Marlies then, but i've watched Tucson's games tracking Ben McCartney who I hoped would be in any AZ deal.

Seney is the next C up right now and beyond him it's SDA/Abramov. At the very least the Leafs need an insurance plan in the form of a Brooks/Pederson/etc. because Seney is not built for that role in the NHL, although he looks good with the Marlies. Whether it's waivers or trade this should be something they look to do for cheap. They've felt the need to add a 13thF/C while having better C depth in the past.

I agree with the premise. I don't think Pederson is the guy to satisfy the need though.

It's going to be interesting to see what Dubas does.

Can he pull off a Hertl, Giroux, or Pavelski?

Hertl is the ultimate fit cause he's in his prime, but all three are battle-hardened forwards with playoff experience. Adding one of these guys into the forward core would be a game-changer.

I mean Kerf and Engvall move over to C ahead of any of those guys I'd think.

I have a hard time seeing Dallas selling. They are a firm bubble team at the moment and have an exciting thing going with that roberson-hintz-pavelski line.

Just add another center/forward who can play up and down the lineup and maybe even add some grit. Don't like the idea of blowing too many assets at this point.

Nick Paul and Namestnikov are two guys I like.

Kharia if they simply want to go for depth.

I don't think Dubas is interested in trading the 1st round pick for rentals, all 3 of those players are going to get a first at the deadline if they move.

I think Toronto is looking more at the second crop of forwards available, ones that will cost a second round pick and a mediocre prospect and would be a top 9 forward. Think Rakell,Domi etc.
