Would you trade Mrazek for Koskinen (pending UFA, retained to equal salary) 1 for 1?

There are some intriguing names.

Maybe they try to go full French Connection and try to sign MAF, Letang, Giroux, and Bergeron

I know you’re kidding but just for the hell of it. My gut instinct is Letang and Bergeron stay put on team friendly extensions. MAF obviously they don’t go after lol. And Giroux I think could leave Philly, but only to a team that you could call good (ie not Montreal)

What does everyone think of Andrew copp and Logan Stanley from the Jets ? Both players are availible from the jets and the cost would be much lower then say a hertl or Forsberg.
Dont understand that line of reasoning. They would cost much lower because they're pretty ass.

Yeah you're definitely right .. it's just an odd circumstance to see so many french stars, despite their age, available in UFA.

Would be funny.

Even though Toronto put Jake Muzzin on long-term injury, I think the Maple Leafs still have to get a handle on his situation. We know now the danger of cumulative concussions, and the bruising defender suffered a previous one on Jan. 15. Guessing recovery timelines is silly. They know he’s out until at least mid-March, and can see where everything stands before the deadline. They’ll do their legwork in the meantime.

While I do think JT Miller is perfect for them — and they have talked to Vancouver — I don’t think the Maple Leafs feel that is their number one priority. They aren’t finished trying to tinker with their blue line, and, at the very least, must be considering goaltending options. They had conversations with Dallas about John Klingberg, and may revisit after adding some edge they desired in Ilya Lyubushkin. By my math, they could have $7M in cap room, although a pre-playoff return for Muzzin complicates that.

9. Toronto’s made it clear they desire to hold Matthew Knies and Topi Niemela — especially for rentals or shorter-term options. Nick Robertson for a rental seems unlikely. I suspect that, after the Olympics, Nick Abruzzese moved towards this group, as well. They don’t have a ton of draft picks, but feel very good about their prospects.

Basically Klingberg they are considering, and Knies and Niemela are likely untouchable. Robertson and Abruzzese aren't available for a rental.
I like this.

I didn’t want it to come to this, but we should probably be thinking about MAF. I wonder what the cost would be

I'd like to acquire Fluery, not just to stabilize the net with the presence of a proven playoff tender, but to also deny another team that hopes to upgrade their situation by acquiring him. How much more dangerous would Edmonton be with Fluery in net, would he help Vegas or Colorado, Washington?

Is Toronto a team he would come to? He has a 10 team no trade list with his contract.

Showcasing Mrazek and having him succeed would be my best guess as to a starting point for trade discussions to begin. What else might be required, I dunno.

Me too. I get the sense that our first rounder at minimum is as good as gone, and maybe next year's as well if they bring in a big upgrade with some term.

The Leafs playing any of those team would probably mean the Leafs are in the Eastern Conference/Stanley Cup final. So, it shouldn't really bother us. Fleury also isn't prime Hasek.

Funny you mention Vegas, they literally traded him away . Would be horribly optically if they traded him away against his will and now want him back, I highly doubt they're interested.

Is JT Miller worth Kerfoot and potentially Liljegren?

I think I’d make a deal revolving around that. Salary wise it works

Move Kerfoot in the offseason for cap space if need be but personally I'd keep Kerfoot for the playoff run. Could likely get Miller without Kerfoot.

No thanks. Lyubushkin makes Stanley irrelevant (Stanley sucks anyways) and Copp is hardly an upgrade on anyone except for Simmonds.

Liljegren right now is better than Holl pretty well anyway you look at it. Gives up less goals against, better breakouts, better offensively, controls more of the share of shots and scoring chances, etc. You don't trade a 22 year old who's on the verge of playing as a top 4D regularly on the right side, especially when a lot of people are hell bent on this defense not being good enough. Trade Holl first. He's not needed anymore with Dermott and Bush on the roster. A GM out there will pay for a guy with another year on a cheap contract who's been an adequate #4 until recently. Use our first rounder, a prospect like Hirvonen and what I assume is at least a second rounder in return for Holl to make a bid for Miller. Failing that, that should be enough for Forsberg.

Don't you mean 'How much more is JT Miller worth than Kerfoot and Liljegren'? Yes it's worth that and will likely draw that if traded. Not sure we have the depth to make that move IMO.

I've thought Liljegren has been really good these past few games with the increased ice-time and responsibility. I'd be very careful trading away young RHD that are going to be relatively cheap. I think I'd rather over pay in prospects and picks.

Unfortunately muzz sounded scared after his first concussion. Based on his own words. He was off first for a month. Then immediately out cold.

i doubt he comes back before the playoffs and wouldn’t be surprised if he is out til next year.

we have like 9 weeks so IF he has any issues that caused his other problems like a groin etc they should clean it up with surgery or whatever he needs.

let him stay out til playoffs. Then hope he can be a 3rd pair d maybe.

Rielly. Brodie
Xxxx. Sandin
Muzzin. Lub
Holl.

with Lilly as the 8th looks good. If muzz can play top 4 in playoffs great. But really can’t count on it now.

If we can get a RHD to play with Rielly, I’d love to see

Rielly - ________
Brodie - Liljegren
Sandin - Lyubushkin
