I still can’t make heads or tails of the D.

are we really going to keep.

rielly. Brodie
Muzz. Lub
Sandin. Holl
derm. Lilly

not sure that’s good enough really? But if we add another d and push down lub

Reilly. Brodie.
Muzz. Xxxxx
Sandin. Lub
Holl?

Holl isNt a 7 d. Maybe trade hun and the 1st for a d?

Do you think these defenses are good enough?

Slavin - DeAngelo
Skjei - Pesce
Cole - Bear

Weegar - Ekblad
Forsling - Gudas
Carlsson - Montour

?

If goaltending is a concern in toronto, it should be a concern of 90% of NHL team.

Since campbell is in Toronto, hes one of best goalie in NHL. So if campbell is a concern, in my mind the 2 only team in the league without any concern in goaltending should be tampa with vasilevsky and NYR with shesterkins

You're saying there are only two reliable goalies in the league?

IMO, I could not care less about other teams concerns. I'm only concerned with what may be potential failings of this team.

That's waaaay too much. Muzzin is owed about $8.4 million in real dollars over the rest of his contract, while Gio has just under $3 million left on his for this season.

TBH, I think Seattle would have to add unless they retained. It's not like Gio is a Norris caliber D anymore at 38, while Muzzin only turned 33 today. 5 years younger, and is still a good Dman.

The main benefit is the known chemistry with Brodie and the fact he is UFA.

if I’m Seattle I’d rather trade for futures than Muzzin. Maybe I take on Muzzin if the add is significant and look to flip him next year.
I’m totally in favour of it but if I’m Seattle I want picks, prospects and cap space

Now that we have 8 NHL defenceman, I wouldn't mind if they brought in a forward with some size and bite. Even a guy like Nick Paul.

I know this will probably be met with resistance, but would anyone but me consider Giordano (pending UFA) for Muzzin straight up?

Opens up a ton of cap space next 2 seasons - and with the apparent evolution of Muzzin from excellent to merely good......you get to preemptively circumvent the obvious next steps in Muzzin's evolution.

No way Muzzin agrees to this. The time to get out of that contract was last year's draft. Player has full control until July 2023, we're stuck with him until at least then.

Hard disagree. Campbell isn’t close to either of those players and there are a lot of players in between them. Our goaltending has been a major problem since the beginning of December. We are winning in spite of it. Campbell’s .899 since Dec 1st is simply not good enough.

Wonder if they could swing a Holl for Mayfield trade. Don't think the Islanders would be too interested though tbh

can i know why everyone is so high on this player ? aren't we done trying to spending first rounders on non impact middle 6 forwards ?
Because he’s rumoured to be on the market and the profile/contract is nice?

I don't watch the Hawks any more but everything you read about the guy says gritty, high energy player with excellent analytics and of course peanuts for a contract. On the small side so maybe similar to Kerfoot but with more finish. Kerf this year is a 2nd assist beast with 1.15 per game where Hagel is at just .10 per so I think he would look very good given the same opportunity. Does he make the Leafs better? Absolutely but he doesn't quite move the needle unless maybe for the $2M cap savings if he comes in and Kerfoot out.

I was trying to think of a way they could afford Giroux and moving Kerf out and Giroux 50% retained gets them most of the way there. I like a Kerf type player more than Mik so I would try to move Mikhyev out and add Hagel. The cap would work and the forwards would crush but that would be a bunch of quality outbound assets and nothing for the D. They need a right shot version of Giordano or a 100% healthy Muzzin as well.

Carolina easily yes

Florida would be nice for them to get a top 4 LD that could allow Weegar to go to RD on a separate pairing, they become a lot better.

So you're saying Leafs fans would be happier with their defense if Brady skjei was getting the 3rd most minutes?

To Toronto: Marc-Andre Fleury (50% retained) + Brandon Hagel + Connor Murphy

To Chicago: Petr Mrazek + Timothy Liljegren + Nick Robertson + Justin Holl + 1st Rounder

To Toronto: 3rd Rounder
To St. Louis: Ilya Mikheyev

To Toronto: Michael McLeod
To New Jersey: Travis Dermott + STL 3rd Rounder

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Hagel - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - McLeod - Kase
Engvall - Kampf - Simmonds/Spezza

Rielly - Murphy
Muzzin - Brodie
Sandin - Lyubushkin

Fleury - Campbell

= wins the Stanley Cup

Not familiar with the 4th Period.
How do they know they are on their 'radar'?

I could see Giordano but no chance they have any interest in Domi.

He's alright, he's broken some stuff, broke JT was going to sign in Toronto, some other things as well. He's not Johnston level insider but he's definitely not Eklund level.

I could see them having interest in a majority of them, Domi was a former 70 point player a few seasons ago with some edge to him, I think the main thing is all those listed should go for a second round pick and a prospect, none of those players should be traded for a first.

I don't like the Lily part. The rest is okay.

I was thinking 2nd rounder, but since he's a rental, 3rd is good.

I would't want Domi here long-term due to personality reasons, but for a playoff rental, he would be good, no?

i think the hurricanes have the same concern about Skej like leafs do with Muzzin.

the second pairing of the Hurricanes has not been great this year. Are you more confident skej and Pesce get there game back on track or Muzzin Holl?

I will give you an exemple

Toronto vs pittsburgh, they played a real good game and gave a shot to campbell to make saves... it was, really good.

Vs stl... defensivly that game was just awful... how many time we saw a blues player all alone in the slot? How many huge coverage mistake on that game. The leafs just abandonned their keeper and didnt gave him any chance to make the difference. Its not about goaltending, all those thing is about how toronto played defensivly.

If you protecting your goalie well and give him a shot to make save, a good goolie will make most of those saved.

If you just let your goalie all the thing, let player all alone with no cover on him ( like they did too many time since a month or 2), Every goalie you will put on net will look bad.

Goal against above expectation campbell is at 8.2...

I heard about gibson and fleury

Gibson is at 2.1
Fleury a -9.1

So MAF like a lot of people right here consider like an huge upgrade allowed 17.3 goal unexpected goal more than campbell

How about a more long term fix? Kerfoot, Dermott, 1st, Amirov, For Alex Tuch? Buffalo might do that I mean he's an asset that will be too old by the time the get a team that might make the playoffs.
