depends when he was pot shotting for the habs he was just a cheap shot prick that waited till the last few mins of the game.
in columbus it looks like he at least stopped some of the tomfoolery for the most part but his game would be nice to have great even if we could get a crashing and banging 3rd line

Some are telling me he really isn't physical anymore and his hits numbers would maybe say they're right....

Even in his "most physical" days, he was pretty much as physical and annoying as Bunting. Bunting is not really all that physical, but he annoys the crap out of other teams.

He is nothing like his dad though. He is not fighting people. He is not laying out massive hits. And he is a lot more of a perimeter player.

I'm warming up to the idea of one Max Domi.

- 5.3 caphit and impending UFA means contract isn't an issue
- poor reputation should keep his trade price down
- he's at a 20gl/50pt pace with no PP production and only 13mpg on a crappy offensive team
- he has a career 52pt pace and has scored 70+ in a year
- he can play C
- he's a fearless prick
- bloodline history

I think this might be a very good fit.
I do think he would be a great Kerfoot replacement. A bit more skilled and he brings the edge they need. They should trade Kerfoot and sign Domi going into next season.

I have to mull this one a bit more tbh.

I don't think the contract is an issue - retention can take care of any issue there.

But I am having second thoughts on whether he actually is a "fearless prick" or whether he's just a plain prick and not all that gritty.

Feels like he's tougher than he is gritty/aggressive. He can handle himself and respond, but it doesn't seem like he seeks out physical play

What would it take to get Oleksiak?

Muzzin - Oleksiak would be an elite shutdown pair.
I would love to see pair. That is my number one pick up for the Leafs for this year and a few more . If they would eat some salary it would be worth a lot to the leafs, I would pay up for that.

Agreed. They are soft as butter. If they don't aquire some serious snarl they'll be out again no doubt...regardless of the quality skill on the team.

really wondering if it isn’t just that. We need a top4 D too, either for Muzzin or Holl or in case of injury. We need more grit. But we also need to curb these silly habits we have that indicate we’re mentally weak still - plenty of blown leads, getting scored on in the first 1-2 minutes, got thoroughly pushed around in Calgary. There is a lot to address.

Kerfoot is playing really well. Might be time to cash in on that.

I really like the Domi idea. He plays differently than a lot of our players do. He's a piece of shit and I love it.
Fully expect to see a domi and subban on the leafs next season
Wouldn’t mind it this year but
I think it’s obvious mikhaev isn’t staying so he’s playing well, scoring goals
Sell high already

Elliott suggests there is league interest in Ritchie.

sold!!

I don't really see why people are all that surprised about this though. Dubas didn't sign him to a 2.5 x 2 contract because he was nice. Other teams wanted him, and a stretch where he has a crappy shooting percentage is not going to change that. It is mostly a matter of who can afford him cap-wise really.

If it wasn’t obvious but Sportsnet is reporting Dubas is working on moving Ritchie.

Good news. Seemed obvious to me they would work hard to trade him somewhere. I called it a long time ago, even before they waived him. The cap space will do wonders, assuming that's the goal of the trade.

My educated guess says Arizona. My dark horse is Seattle.

There are probably better teams that have more interest in him than Arizona.

Yah there’s bound to be playoff teams that want him for his grit and size….

Most good teams don't have cap space and certainly won't like the 2.5M rolling into next season. Most good teams, if not all good teams, don't have 2.5M for a bad player. Not sure Ritchie is what I'd consider "gritty" either.

Arizona will need players to finish the season and even next season. They are clearly tanking. Ritchie is the perfect player to get at such a low value, hope he does ok to flip at some point in the next 12 months.

Arizona and Buffalo make sense as they need to hit the cap floor.

Other teams I can see have some interest would be New Jersey and Chicago.
