Trade for Giroux @ 50% and stick him on the LW beside Tavares/Nylander. That line has been horrible and needs a boost.

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Giroux-Tavares-Nylander

Kerfoot would have to be a part of the package for sure to make the cap work. Probably gonna be pricy, but worth it at this point.

Do not waste assets on a goaltender, especially on a 3rd stringer. This is why we have Campbell AND Mrazek, and that is why the Leafs didn't want to make a move there.

Campbell will hopefully figure it out, he's had a rough go lately. Mrazek seems to be heating up and doing fine though.

Kallgren, Woll and Hutchinson is more than fine for 3rd string duties. Kallgren and Woll especially have shown good stuff this season. Only way you look for a goaltender is if there are injuries. Rittich was acquired because Andersen was injured for a long time.

Agreed.

The Leafs goaltending depth is actually decent. Hutch is probably above average compared to most 3rd stringers.

And despite his slower start to the season due to the injury Mrazek is a known quality goalie.

I just don't see a pressing need here to do anything drastic

Campbell
Mrazek
Woll
Hutchinson

We’re fine in net. Unless you’re trading for Gibson or an elite number 1, you’re not going to get much better.

Panthers among teams interested in Giordano ahead of deadline - TSN.ca

It appears Mark Giordano could be on the move for the second time in less than a year as the March 21 trade deadline approaches.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports the Seattle Kraken are expected to sit down with their captain in the coming weeks to discuss the possibility of a trade.

"Mark Giordano of the expansion Seattle Kraken is also a pending UFA, just like (Claude) Giroux. And the plan is for Kraken GM Ron Francis in the very near future to sit down face to face with Mark Giordano and discuss the future to see what Giordano wants to do," LeBrun said on Insider Trading Thursday. "He’s got a 10-team no-trade list, but the reality is I think they want to do well by Mark Giordano, who took on this commitment to be the captain of this first-year team."

"I think he ends up getting dealt and certainly there’s some contenders keeping a close eye on him – the Florida Panthers among them."

Giordano, who carries a cap hit of $6.75 million, has four goals and 18 points in 41 games with the Kraken this season.

The 38-year-old native of Toronto had spent his entire 15-year NHL career with the Calgary Flames before the Kraken selected in last summer's expansion draft.

Giordano has amassed 147 goals and 380 assists over 990 career games in the NHL, winning the Norris Trophy in 2019 as the NHL's top defenceman.

The Kraken currently sit second last in the Western Conference with a 15-28-4 record in their inaugural season.

Interesting.......

We are a very good team, and we don't need to be reactionary to one game.. but I do think last night showcased our lack of physicality. I do still think any changes should address that. I've been consistent in that for several years now.. particularly on our back end.

Islanders don't need LHD.
Not enough for Crouse, particularly with Ritchie tied to him.
Getting Vancouver to move Schenn might be hard, he's partnering effectively with Hughes.. I approve of getting him for a #7D though.

Pretty much how I'm feeling about them too. Good post.

Don't over react but it's clear this team needs an upgrade on the wing with a guy not afraid to hit and also a guy Iike that on the backend but he needs to be able to skate and move the puck out quick. Not easy to find but hopefully they have a few guys in mind.

Or at least be able to move the puck to a partner who has the capability to move the puck out... and thanks.

I don't see Dubas being able to trade for a top 4 RHD by deadline, but he still needs to bolster defensive depth while acquiring an in-your-face player. Mayfield, has term, would be ideal. Schenn a close second. Lyubushkin/Crouse combo would be welcomed too.

100% on board with this (definitely not biased since I am a leafs fan and know his in laws family)

I'd be looking at moving Mik at this point. He doesn't move the needle at all in the playoffs and him and his agent seem to think he deserves more, and more $$

As part of a package maybe, if the other team likes him, but individually you just aren’t gonna get much for him. At which point he’s just more valuable to keep

While I'm a big fan of both players, note Manson is once again injured, and Comtois is a healthy scratch tonight. Manson's heavy usage, and heavy game seem to be taking a toll on him. Comtois had a hand injury, surgery, and just hasn't found his game again. Recall, Mikheyev wasn't very good last year either, after hand surgery. While both have very good attributes we seek, I'm not sure either of them help us, THIS year.

We aren't in a position to subtract at this point. If we think we can upgrade, sure, let's talk.

It would have to be part of package for sure - I just don't know who else you move for something substantial - Dermott? Robertson?. I guess that's why I'm not the GM! :)

The only roster player available with positive value is Dermott. Cheapish and youngish defenseman that any rebuilding team should be all over in my opinion. Outside of that, it seems very unlikely the Leafs trade away fairly good players even on expiring contracts like Mikheyev.

My only expectation before the deadline would be seeing Ritchie dumped and the usual AHL level trades. We'll see how February goes though because it feels like things have changed a lot over the last 2 months.

Depends on the return. Last night was a friendly reminder how Mik looks like in the playoffs.

I like the trade above where Mik was flipped for a 2nd rounder. Then the second rounder was used as currency to focus on needs. As long as you have second rounders to play with, you don't need to be scared taking the risk replacing Mik for more playoff intensity. Temporary subtraction.

Who knows , maybe one of the Marlies is a hero in waiting as well. Never know unless a spot opens up.

I don’t see the need to offload Ritchie right before a playoff run, unless he’s part of a bigger deal. Seems to be more of an off-season move.

Mayfield isn’t going to go for just a 2nd. He’s a proven top 4 guy signed to a steal of a contract for this year and next. He’s not going for anything less than a first or a high-end prospect.

That's possible, especially if nothing else is in the works to bring in more salary. It's more of a service to Ritchie to get him to a NHL team that wants him rather than be in the AHL. With Robertson healthy, after acquiring Clifford, Mikheyev and Engvall playing well, Anderson and Steeves NHL ready... Ritchie is pretty damn useless. I'd say it's pretty likely we see him gone by the deadline.

I posted this in another thread, but I think Dubas should do everything he can to get Chychrun and also try hard to get Chara.Chychrun with Muzzin would be very solid and Chara, although about the same age as Moses, is still a beast… especially in the playoffs!
