Should the Leafs try to sign Kadri this off-season?

That’s why You add mikhaev while he’s hot, add a 1st and mrazek and get chychrun

add Lilly too and maybe add crouse to the deal

allows u to keep Muzzin until off season and then try to move him of not before (still like sending him back to the kings, they playoff bound)

Mik would have to agree to an extension unless a third team wants him.

We are so tight against the cap that we won't be able to do anything of significance. Unless it's dollar-in, dollar-out.
 
Just get a player who can play top 4 mins with Muzzin. We can push the kids to the 3rd pair where they should be. We don't need a star.
 
Leafs are still soft as butter. Espcially our defense. Not push back. No clearing in front of the net ability. Just a sad soft pathetic group who's most likely going to get hammered in the playoffs with any teams forechecking ability

Easy

The team has been on an extensive road trip against a bunch of good teams
The entire team has had COVID recently and we are missing 2 of our top 4D

We don't need to panic, just let the team come right physically and make an intelligent cost effective add or two

Braun won't cost the earth, he's physical and defends well in a top 4 role for Philly

That's the sort of thing I'm still in favour of
 
Soucy is the guy I like the most. Hes big, physical has a good outlet pass and hes surprisingly good on the offensive side of the puck as well.

This Rangers game should make it easier for people to stop their obsession towards non-blue chip prospects and the 1st round pick. This team needs an impact player added to the roster otherwise we're better off just selling some of these cheap guys like Kase and Kampf for pics. Cash in on them with second / third rounders for some more non blue chip prospects people can spend their day loving. We're not winning a cup standing pat.

I'd pay 1st+pretty good prospect+Dermott for two playoff runs with Mayfield. I don't think the Islanders take that though.

Side note, the Leafs need to start drafting bigger defenceman.

This post made me say 'WTF' 3 times.

1st that you suggested paying that price for Mayfield.

2nd that you think the ISLANDERS are the ones who would reject it.

And 3rd for suggesting we go back to doing the thing that has yielded zero quality prospects out of numerous high-mid picks (and a few late ones) in three years.

This is the first year in his entire career where Crouse isn't a complete liability. I don't think trading for him is gonna be beneficial.

They likely want to keep the 1/2 RHD combo with Hamilton moving forward but Damon Severson would be near the top of my list if you could send Ritchie/Holl back the other way as a part of it, or flip them out after.

Good possession numbers, decent offense, high dzs%, signed for next season as well.

Although I agree with you, Dubas is gone if this team doesn’t make it out of the 1st round no matter who their opponent is. Dubas knows this and his priority could be to help the roster now, worry about assets later.
 
if you are going to rebuild the D now a couple of things are needed.

1. a guy to play with Muzzin. Find a RH guy who can skate and work the transition so Muzzin who is slowing down can concentrate on stay-at-home duties.
2. a bottom pairing thumper ala Bogosian who can play with Sandin and or Lillgren. Need some more beef on the back end.
 
Its true, I still don't see them much more than a team that maybe makes second round.
They need to be heavier and more team compete

Crazy idea...Marner, Ritchie, Dermott for Pulock, Lee, and Clutterbuck + conditional pick?

He's also the guy everyone would want. Seattle may be thinking this is the draft we couldn't get
Saucey and Oleksiak could be out and they may get their 1sts and prospects
