So uh Jake Muzzin...
Meh he's fine IMO. He has a terrible partner who cannot support him in the odd off-stretch. Lilly hasn't been given enough icetime to trust yet and Dermott's looking like a #6. So we have our answers in the short term - play Lilly and Sandin more than Dermott and look for a trade for a D pairing for Muzzin or in case of injury.
Anaheim is currently in a playoff spot. Why would they move either of those players? Its great year for buyer at the trade deadline. A lot of great player should be available at trade deadline.
Leafs should look of a similar kind of trade than islanders did last season with palmieri and zajac. My target is the ducks for rackel and manson.
With all very good player, im not sure if the value of rakell or manson will be higher than a 2nd.
So maybe something like a 1st, dermott and an other pick late picknor prospect like abramov for manson and rakell at 50 % should be anough this season.
I say just go for Mayfield and get Clutterbuck added with him for the fourth line

I thought Brodie looked good with Muzzin in their limited time together but that would mean finding a partner for Rielly...still think Mayfield could be that guy.
Isn’t that what we said about dion phaneuf?? HahahMeh he's fine IMO. He has a terrible partner who cannot support him in the odd off-stretch. It’s always the partners fault
Liljegren looked so good against St. Louis. He was all over the ice making good plays defensively and offensively. Hopefully they keep Liljegren with Muzzin and we don’t see Holl back with Muzzin again.I'd much rather look for an upgrade on Holl than try and find a replacement for Muzzin. I believe Muzzin is capable of good hockey whereas I don't believe Holl is a quality 2nd pairing D. I think as soon as we can we should be trying out one of Sandin or Lilly on the 2nd pairing.

As things stand, the team has three draft picks for the 2022 draft – their first, second, and seventh-round selections. Last season, the Leafs drafted in only the second, fifth, and sixth rounds. The front office obviously can’t blow through all of its draft picks and essentially punt on the draft two years in a row.
At the same time, it’s tough to judge much value the Leafs’ top prospects carry as trade assets around the league. 2020 first-round pick Rodion Amirov has played in 10 games this season. Their top selection in 2019, Nick Robertson, has played in two. Their two highest draft picks in 2018 and 2017, Rasmus Sandin and Timothy Liljegren, are both contributing in the NHL right now, and it would make little sense for a cap-crunched team like the Leafs to move out good, young, cost-controlled players unless it was part of an absolute homerun of a deal.
Their current deadline cap space projection, according to CapFriendly, is $928,275.
That is not a lot of draft picks, prized prospects, or cap space for Kyle Dubas to work with, and the Leafs are in arguably the most top heavy division. We could reasonably suggest all four of the playoff teams in the Atlantic are elite. That makes the prospect of doing nothing — or very little — at the trade deadline a tough pill to swallow.
To make matters more interesting, given the overall lack of assets and cap space, the Leafs can probably only accomplish one move of note to move the needle. The big decision for the Leafs will come down to whether it’s for a top-six forward or a top-four defenseman.
The Leafs do have a pretty good list of prospects they can dangle. Someone like US olympic representative Nick Abruzzese or Finnish WJC captain Roni Hirvonen would be pretty nice prospects to get in a package. They can also start in on their 2023 draft picks, the 2023 2nd would be another solid chip to play instead of the one in 2022.

Will be a problem

I would try and hold onto Robertson, Amirov, Knies, Niemela and the two young Leafs D - Sandin and Liljegren and their future 1st rd. picks at this time.
Taylor Hall was acquired for a 2nd rd. pick last year. While, Foligno went for a 1st and two 4ths. Ritchie/Mrazek or Bunting/Kase? Shop smarter this time.
We can't take all the best prospects off the table and expect to get value back that will actually take us on a deep run. People are too attached to these guys. The flip side of this is, with everyone in our division so elite, does it make more sense to just add something small (rental D upgrade?) and sell our backup G if he rebounds?
Im going to throw out some possible TDL D targets that shouldnt be too expensive to acquire:

So concede and waste another prime year of the big 4 and rielly while we’re getting vezina quality goaltending? No thanks. Not suggesting we mortgage the entire future, but you gotta make hay while the suns shiningThe flip side of this is, with everyone in our division so elite, does it make more sense to just add something small (rental D upgrade?) and sell our backup G if he rebounds?
Like, Tampa Flordia Carolina are all likely going to be adding. Boston just got back Tuka.
I dont know if spending a ton of assets makes sense this year sadly.
