Or maybe Guerin goes for full term and signs Freddy Hockey for 7 years.

I think this is more likely than trading him at the deadline.

Guerin and Evason love him, I'm sure they'll work out some 4x4 deal in the summer.

And I personally don't mind him as well - a versatile guy that plays in all situations who's on pace for another 40 point season. If he's a player that coach loves and opens up options, then I don't mind the term. So far BG's valuations has been okay/good and I'm happy with Kaprizov, Spurgeon, Brodin, JEE and now Boldy so in regards to Freddy, I would expect and personally be maxed out at around 2.5mil.

If it has to happen, I guess I'll hope for something between Hartman and Foligno.
That's what I'm thinking as well. I wouldn't mind re-signing him for under 3M for an actual third line role.

I don't dislike Gaudreau at all, I just don't prefer him in a top six role, and I prefer him to be making under 3M.

Sign him for 2.9M and run this? No problem.

Kaprizov-X-Zuccarello
Boldy-Ek-X
Foligno-Gaudreau-Hartman
Shaw-Dewar-Duhaime

In an ideal world the X's are filled in by guys who belong there, in the meantime they can be filled in by placeholders like Sam Steel.

Combo of Steel/Walker/Rossi/Beckman for 2 years and then the handcuffs are off.

I agree with you and you might be even more generous than me at 2.9m.

Perhaps the only place we differ in opinion is that I personally just don't think its in BG's cards to find a better option/realistic choice of obtaining a 2nd line centerman at 3mil (assuming we re-sign Addison at 3mil and Gustavsson at 2.5mil).

I think the only path we have is the bandage approach - sign bandage players like Gaudreau/Hartman/Steel to produce 40pts while either 1) wait till the dead cap expires or 2) develop a prospect (Rossi/Ohgren/Khusnutdinov/2023 pick).

I may have a found a temporary fix by shutting off the predictive text option. However, my posts may be filled with spelling errors galore since im too lazy to fix them.

Anyway, to stay on topic, when are we moving Greener?
Soon, I hope.

Might not be till the summer, though, when teams are more able to take on cap. I don’t see how Guerin signs who he needs to for next year unless he loses Dumba, Greenway, and maybe even Goligoski.

Russo & Smith just finished a podcast. They think Dumba, Greenway and Addison will be traded. Faber will replace Addison, and then Guerin will go after a guy like Luke Schenn to replace Dumba.

They also think the Wild want to re-sign Steel, who may take a team friendly deal because he won't get this opportunity to be a top center anywhere else and play with guys like Kap & Zucc.

Luke Schenn? Isn't he the bad Schenn? Are they both bad Schenns now? I haven't followed them at all.

JFC, Schenn is 33 yo! Does Goligoski need company?

If they trade Addison, it better be for a haul. The guy has been really good on our PP…moves the puck well, gets his shot off, smart, and makes good decisions. Who’s going to run the point if he goes? Spurgeon? Didn’t we try that already?

Faber doesn’t play on the PP in college.

I don’t get trading Addison, at all, unless he is asking for big $$$( would be surprising, to me). Replacing him with an older, RH version of Middleton?

I don’t see how moving both Dumba and Addison this year makes sense. One, sure. Schenn brings more physicality to their defense that they need but I don’t see him being good enough to justify what I think he will cost.

I can see Addison traded though. He’d be a nice piece in a path to actually getting a worthwhile center on this roster.

To me if you trade Greenway, you need to break up JEE from Foligno. You will not recreate that line removing Greenway who drives much of the positive play. Especially with the way Foligno is playing. Get JEE with actual talent.

Addison isn't of any use outside of the PP. The PP really isn't any better this year than it was last year with Spurgeon. The only thing making it look somewhat respectable numbers wise lately is they are scoring some 5v3 goals.

Faber is almost the direct replacement for the role that Dumba is in now, minus a couple open ice hits per month.

~20 points, playing a matchup pairing.

Dumba walks in the offseason. Addison is traded at the draft.

GREEF line needs to be split up now, with Foligno and Boldy swapping spots.

Russo thinks Duhaime will be the new guy on that line with Ek and Foligno.

Greenway has basically no production, and then this serious incident a couple of weeks ago when he showed up late for a game.

Russo said he wouldn't mention a possible Addison trade unless he's heard something. So it may actually happen, sounds like it may have to do with the $.

Ya, by this year I meant prior to deadline. Dumba is gone via FA but if not traded sooner.

I don't see Dumba traded during the season. Maybe OTT gives a 4th or a 5th for his rights after the season, so they can get a jump on UFA?

It would be pulling the trigger too quickly on Addison, but if it's a money thing, then it is what it is.
Pretty much this. I think there could be upside, but I also think he may just be a PP specialist who will always be sheltered to some degree defensively relative to the offense he provides. I'd like to find out what he can be before moving him, but if he wants to be paid in line with his production, I think he's gone.

Since the Boldy extension, I've seen a few people go over which RFAs and UFAs the Wild have and how much cap space is available, and every time I've seen the list he looks to me to be the obvious casualty.

It's either Goli or Addison. Goli has a full NTC so he's much harder to move.

I have no issues with Addison wanting to get paid. He's on a 40p pace, and that gets d-men paid. I just don't want to be the team to pay him.
