I have JEE in the untouchable list because he is the only quality center on the the team. Trade him (even for an upgrade) it still leaves the team in the same boat they are in now.
yeah...you're probably right. If EP was signed long term for a sane amount I might consider trading JEE for him, but I'd rather have JEE at 5+M long term than EP at 9.5M EP isn't in the same universe when it comes to two way play.

Did anyone hear Russo on KFAN with Barreiro yesterday when he brought up the Greenway scratch the other night? Sounds like he showed up to the rink super late and wasn't the first time he has missed team meetings and so on. Seems to coincide with his energy and commitment level on the ice. I didn't hear the interview, but co-worker was telling me about it the AM and made mention that Russo said management is fed up with it. Maybe Greenway + Dumba somewhere does something for someone? Hard to give up on what Greenway "could be" but at this point, seems to be what he is.
*If* true, it honestly wouldn't shock me at all. Doesn't seem like a bad guy by any means, but every single interview I've ever seen with him, he seems incredibly unmotivated & blasé about everything. Almost to the point of complete disinterest.

To realistically have a chance to compete we would need both of them. Swapping centers fixes one problem while creating another hole.

Petterson is a pretty damn good defensive player. Can he do that and be physically dominant like JEE can, no, but much in the way that some infatuate Brodin being on the right side of the puck he consistently does as well. He’s not some high scoring forward that is disinterested in the defensive zone.

Both he and Larkin would be welcome adds. They need something at the center position and both bring talent, speed, and strong two-way play.

Part of the reason I was okay with Fiala moving on is this franchise needs to make a move at center. Fiala here ensures that can’t happen. If they watch EP, Larkin, Horvat, and potentially others all move and they are still starring down #1 Center Sam Steel/Ryan Hartman, that’s flat unacceptable.

It’s very Minnesota to give a shit about that.

A Penguins beat writer said the Wild and Penguins may be looking for a trade. Any suggestion on guys you think Guerin may be wanting? What areas are you guys looking to bolster and what's the "plan" for next year in your eyes?

How has Kapanen been lately? He might an interesting piece. Not sure he’s worth a ton, wasn’t he recently viewed as a cap dump?

I think Guerin is looking to trade Dumba and/or Greenway.

Started off strong, then faded and was HS'ed for a period of time. Then he came back and was quite productive. I would say back to his old 3rd line RW self. He's pacing for 42 points. I think it may be more Sullivan than anyone and I think people judge him by being a top6 wing. So if you're benchmark on his performance is that of a 2RW, then yes, he's a bit underwhelming but if you're looking for a speedy, skilled 3RW...I mean the production history is 100% there.

Looking here, looks like you guys may be frustrated with Greenway? A Greenway-Kapanen swap may be of decent value for both sides. Perhaps similar issues. Contracts are similar-ish enough too.

ETA: May not matter. Sounds like Russo dismissed it...

Nothing I have seen from Evason and Guerin would suggest that they would give up a “ heavy” player like Greenway for Kapanen. If Greenway is traded, I would hope that it would be for either futures, or a player on an expiring contract. Wild are desperate to save cap space over the next two years. Trading for Kapenen and his contract could cost us Addison, or Gustavsson, which would be a really bad trade off. even Gaudreau is a more useful player than Kapanen, and he needs to be re-signed.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, but I wonder if Addison might be in play?

I wouldn’t hate it at the deadline if we moved Dumba for futures and then Addison for Mayfield. He’s a UFA so there is a chance we can’t afford him but players tend to like it here and playing with Brodin looks super easy to me.

Brodin - Mayfield
Middleton - Spurgeon
Merrill - Goligoski / Faber

I don't particularly see us trading a RFA that isn't arbitration eligible for a player that's going to be a UFA.

The Wild have the ability to squeeze Addison on a bridge and his PP usefulness fair outweighs his d zone deficiencies.

The PP is the biggest issue here but Brodin - Mayfield could be the best shutdown pair in the league. Maybe Greenway plus picks instead of Addison.

Just a heads up, when quoting someone, if your cursor is in the quote box, hit enter to get to a new line first before typing, thus your message will be outside said quote box. Hope this helps. :)

Not to derail the thread, but regarding typing outside of the quote box........I've been having big problems with that myself. About a month ago, I noticed that whenever I quote someone, the cursor repeatedly jumps back (along with my comments) into the quote box. Not only that, but the cursor then acts like i started a new line 20 times, so I have to delete all the empty space. It's made it nearly impossible to participate in discussions. The responses that I have made are the result of editing about 20 times in lightning speed to beat the next jump.

Not sure wth is going on. Probably has nothing to do with HF, but it's annoying as #$%@!

I plugged in a wireless mouse on the wife's pc to mess with her after she pissed me off one time. I'd scroll around or click on it randomly until I felt I'd gotten my revenge.

I may have a found a temporary fix by shutting off the predictive text option. However, my posts may be filled with spelling errors galore since im too lazy to fix them.

Anyway, to stay on topic, when are we moving Greener?

I'm waiting on a Freddy G trade, something similar to Sturm last year when they realize they can't re-sign him.
