Gus ~ $3M

Shaw-Dewar-Foligno
Fogarty

Middleton-Spurgeon
Brodin-Faber
O’Rourke-Addison
Merrill

That’s roughly $82.5M for a 22 man roster.

Cap friendly estimates a cap ceiling of $83.5M for 23-24. For 24-25 their estimate is $87.5M, which gives us ~ $19M to sign 8 players. Our FAs are Zucc, Foligno, Hartman, Beckman, Walker, Dewar, Fogarty. I would assume Zucc/Foligno would take pay cuts. Maybe a slight increase to Hartman. The rest are replacement level at this point.

I don’t know why Zucc would take a pay cut if he continues to produce at the same level. He is underpaid as is.
Next year the Wild will probably be shopping him at the TDL.

The fact that we still have Hartman centering our top line with a 36 year old Zucc on the right side should scare everyone going into next year.

Our prospects are too raw to put there and we don’t have cap space to go after someone better. Ideally, 1-2 of Yurov/Khusnutdinov/Rossi are at least making a dent at the NHL level to end next season.

Marat K is under contract in the KHL next season. May 1st has been the first day NHL teams have been able to sign KHL players who's contract just ended. Then things like a work visa, travel over here, etc. need to happen, So you're looking at late 2nd or early 3rd round of the Playoffs.

I don't think there has been any change to these "rules," but I could be wrong.

Ahhh that’s right. So maybe Khusnutdinov is Zucc’s replacement if Zucc leaves.

As far as prospects go (on paper) I have Yurov or Rossi as Zucc's replacement as a top-6 wing.

Marat K might be a winger in the NHL, but I think they try him as the 3C for a year first. He has the speed/skating that Rossi doesn't have. He still has another year in the KHL so I think it's possible that he plugs right into the NHL lineup. I also think there will be a handshake agreement that he's on the NHL team out of camp to get him over the the Wild.

I don’t think he is that sort of player. Not a sophisticated offensive player….that would be more Rossi. You replace Zucc with Boldy, IMO, then put a guy in between them who is not a klutz, but can handle defensive duties. That would be one of Rossi, JEE, or Marat, IMO.

Oh, I meant as the second best player on the 1st line. I hope he plays center, almost prefer they try him there instead of 3C.

I have my doubts they will put Boldy with Kap. Very similar to how they didn’t put Kap and Fiala together.

Surely even Guerin can’t be so dense as to not give Kap a talented offensive player to play with? Unless he doesn’t care if he leaves town, also?

I've had Boldy as attached to JEE's hip longterm. Not playing with Kap except for PP and a random shift here and there. (Boldy/JEE/Ohgren 2nd line)

I've had it as Zucc (until he's gone) then either Rossi, Yurov, or a UFA as Kap's other winger. I don't see much else in the prospect pool to take that spot unless someone blows through their ceiling.

It would be reckless not to put them together. Boldy's game is tailor made for playing with guys like Kaprizov.

In 24-25 these players will be vying for spots:

-Rossi
-Yurov
-Khusnutdinov
-Walker
-Beckman

If I had to make an educated guess:
Kap-Khusnutdinov-Yurov

Young Russian talent to persuade Kap to stay.

Boldy-JEE is an interesting dynamic. I think they need a fast playmaker to complete that line.

Probably a moot point. I expect Zucc to re-sign for at least 1-2 years.

While I agree, the offense then becomes almost non-existent outside of prospect talent. Evason loves spreading the wealth over the lines to make matchup problems for other teams.

I think they need a shooter (with a decent 2-way game) more than a playmaker. Boldy doesn't have a great shot and JEE only scores Parise goals. They can both finish, but aren't scoring threats from any type of distance.

Russo on latest pod keeps hammering on Kane and said hes hearing a 2nd is the ask for Kane. Would you give up a 2nd and a 2nd tier prospect for Kane?? In his opinion the WIld saved on cap space all year to take a run at Kane.

Depends on the prospect. I'm only open to it because it's Kane. I'd still prefer not trading assets for anything, because we're far more than a Kane away from going anywhere. But it's Kane.

I inquire about Kane, for sure, but so does every other team in the league. I don't see much reason for Kane to waive for MN (fringe Playoff team) compared to other teams (locked into the Playoff teams) that will be calling about him.

If anything I see MN as being the middle man again for Kane like they were for the ROR trade.

If you added Kane though are you really scared of anyone in West?

Wild win tonight they are only 5 points away from the 1 seed in conference, Saying the Wild are so far away from any team in the West is a little extreme IMO

Kane isn't what he used to be, we still have no centers, most of our defense is questionable at best. Yes I'm still "scared" of other teams in the west. This team with Kane isn't any better than (not even s good as) last years team with Fiala.

Everyone keeps saying the west is having a down year this year, while simulatenously forgetting that we're still at the bottom of it.

If we trade for Kane, there's no way that they trade Dumba, so it's almost a double effect of 2nd round picks. Losing one vs. gaining one.

But Kane makes sense based on a) what we need most, b) what this mgmt/org still likely wants to do, and c) the minimal retention that would be needed (easier deal to make).

the West was far stronger last year, Colorado is not even close to the team they were last year, alot has to due with Injuries, St Louis is a non playoff now as is Calgary and you are replacing them with teams like Seattle and LA.

And Like I said for all the Wild flaws this year if they win tonight they are within 5 points of #1 seed how is that at bottom of conference?

Bottom of the playoff field, not bottom of the conference.

The west is weaker this year, and the Wild are still relatively even weaker than that. And we were still a first round exit last year, so what's the point in trying so hard to replicate that. Three days ago we were barely in a playoff spot.

I'm wondering if Guerin would try to sign Kane too. He already said he wouldn't trade a 2nd for a rental, so it doesn't track to even be in on those conversations. But with Fleury he did the same thing.

No idea how we'd fit him in though.

While your points are not wrong, my whole thing is, The West is down this year, there isnt one team in West as of now that I would say we cant beat in playoff series That may change at Trade deadline.

I just think you have to take a chance this year, Cap hits next 2 years pose bigger issues and the Foligno's Zuccarello's etc another year older, you have to take a shot this year. If you go first 5 years of Kaprizov career with zero playoff wins its likely he may want to bolt.

I would much rather package our 1st+2nd+prospect to move UP in the draft than trade for Kane.
