Yeah, I think people should look at it like if Yurov or Buium were in the same spot and what they would want in return. There needs to be at least one prospect that gets the value most of the way there. Starting with Stramel or Chisholm is likely not going to cut it for Columbus. If it does, you take that and run.

I would entertain Heidt, Hunt and 1st.
I like Hunt but even without Jiricek on the roster, he feels a bit expendable. And you should sweeten deals that get you a promising young RHD.
Hard to differentiate between the two. Ohgren has been invisible in the NHL except when he is fumbling the puck, v Heidt, who has been a consistently excellent producer in the WHL(now 3rd in P/PG, 5th last year).
Ohgren can and should be doing better, but is by no means a bust. Heidt is doing about as well as can be expected, given his situation.
Crazy overpay, for me. Hunt is ready to play in the NHL right now(unlike Jiricek). Heidt has been really , really good in his 3 seasons in the WHL. Hard to expect better, really. I hope that we are past the days of trading away picks on "maybes".
Jiricek has skating, IQ, and attitude red flags. CBJ has deemed him not fit to play for their talent poor NHL squad so far this year. On top of that, CBJ unnecessarily burned a year of his contract, meaning we will have to deal his PITA agent, Walsh a year earlier than we should've. Right now, he will be a RFA in 26-7, and we will be trying to determine his value after only one season of play in the NHL(25-26), if we are lucky. I'd just as soon take my chances on Hunt, Ohgren/Heidt, and a 1st. It's a major red flag to me that CBJ is already willing to move on from Jiricek, and he should be valued accordingly.
Ohgren/Heidt and a 2nd...maybe. So far, Jiricek is far from a sure thing to be even a top 4 D. I think of him as the anti-Rossi in terms of IQ and attitude.

I see Ohgren as a clear step above and really hope the FO does as well. Heidt’s impressive junior #s Obscure the fact that he was passed over by every GM in the league in the draft, some two or three times, and by Team Canada for WJC. Meanwhile Ohgren was his team’s WJC captain and has proven production in a pair of men’s leaguesHard to differentiate between the two. I disagree, slight overpay yes but you have to in order to 1) trading for a young RHD and 2) outbid other teams, so trading equal or bargain value won't cut it.
To start off, I see Hunt as a sort of illusion pick. I really like him but on his own, he holds little trade value. Even without talking trade, I see him as a potential bottom pairing guy for us but with Chisholm and Buium incoming, its very likely he'll simply look for another team. If we are talking trade, there is going to be very little interest in him as a solo piece - an average sized jack all trades, master of none dmen who's played only a handful of limited NHL games. But he's an illusion he's still a decent player and could help sweeten a package deal.
So the question is, is Heidt + 1st an overpay? Worthy discussion. But I am the stance it is not too much overpay for Jiricek.
You all know I love my draft but I'm quite confident that the 2025 is very weak past 15 and we are picking about #25. So that leaves Heidt has the highlighted piece, a great prospect for sure, but we need to give up something of value for Jiricek and I don't mind giving up Heidt when we have Yurov/Khusnutdinov/Bankier/Kumpulainen/Stramel/Haight as center prospects already incoming
I don't see Jiricek as a sure thing but closer to values teams got for Cutter Gauthier or Rutger McGroarty. And I do think Yager; Drysdale > Heidt + 2025 25th overall.
Perhaps Jiricek has some flags and that may drive down his trade value but I'm confident he'll develop well under us. Walsh is a non-factor for me, you got to deal with a-hole agents all the time, and I don't necessarily seeing CBJ wanting to move him alone as a red flag. I just see the need to read too deep into it.

Would rather give up Ohgren, as the only traits I think he beats Heidt in are size and shot. Centers can move to the wing, like I imagine Heidt will do, but Ohgren will never be able to play center. Heidt may not have the floor Ohgren does, but we don't have any issue finding bottom six players. I'd rather have the ceiling Heidt has.
I’d normally agree but it’s possible ohgren ends up in the same sort of mold as Ryan Hartman and that is the type of 3rd liner that wins championships as far as I am concerned. The ability to grind and check and do the dirty stuff but then fill in admirably in the top 6 when needed. I think that could be there for ohgren. He has the shot and the size

I don't think he has the guts or the spirit that makes Hartman, Hartman. Remember that's what we wanted from Greenway, but you can't teach that.
