I always wondered, how good could a Brazil B team do at a World Cup if they were allowed to send two squads.

What you a Canada and USA B team look like if both countries were allowed to create 2 World Cup rosters? Therefore remove the North American young guns restriction and create two separate rosters for Team Canada and Team USA. They should be a clear A and B squads, not a balanced roster. You could try a A squad of veterans and a B squad of say U23's.

Still gimmicky to me.

To start to build this thing as a true world hockey international event you absolutely need to use only National teams.

If there are weaker sisters, so be it, the world cup of football has weaker sisters also.

They do, I've always been a proponent of a true World Cup involving more than the usual 12-16 team we see at the World Championships. Have it be 24 teams, the way old soccer world cups would be.

I felt at the time when they announced the young guns and team Europe idea, it would be so much easier just to do a 23 and under USA and Canada teams separately. Obviously not perfect by any means but far less gimmicky and people would still be playing for their countries. US 23 and under squad would be awesome, same with Canada's. Gaudreau, Eichel, Matthews, Saad, Galchenyuk, Jones, Gostisbehere, Larkin, Trocheck, J.T. Miller, Trouba, Hanifin, Hellebuyck and Gibson playing for that US squad would be incredibly fun to watch.

Given that Brazil A team got destroyed 7-1 at home by Germany last time out, I would guess Brazil B wouldn't have a prayer.

On the ice Canada B would probably a match for Finland or Russia on most nights, while USA B would be on Slovakia's level.

I'd be down for this.

Absolutely not. Also Canada's B team would be far better than Finland. Wait, unless you talk about soccer.

I think the World Cup of Hockey should take it one step farther than this:

1) Western Canada (WHL territory)
2) Central Canada (OHL territory)
3) Eastern Canada (QMJHL territory)
4) Midwest USA (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois)
5) Greater USA (needs better name)
6) Russia A
7) Russia B
8) Sweden
9) Finland
10) Czech Republic
11) Central Europe (Slovakia, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia)
12) Northern Europe (Germany, Norway, Denmark, Belarus, Baltic States)

I think Sweden would have an advantage in that set-up, but it could be a lot of fun.

Fixed up that for you.
Yeah.

You decide if the US team is on the same level as Slovakia, or if the canadian team is on the same level as Finland. Please don't post the trash - we lost only 1-2 in OT to your A team. Latvia also lost 1-2 to us, that doesn't mean that our B team wouldn't trash them 8-0.

You mean in a best on best tournament "Canada B" would trash Finland 8-0?
Sure cause "Canada A" always humiliates Finland with 12-0 or so.
