But the 11 mil cap hit?

His base salary is $910K every year for the next 3 years but it comes with a $7.95 million signing bonus per season. Which I assume would be the annual cheque on Canada Day. So it's not a classic cap circumvention type deal with nothing at the end.

I think the bonus structure will probably deter most teams from taking it on. So we would be fighting an uphill battle to trade him. But maybe LTIR could be a legit option in a year or two if there are health reasons why he’s declining.
After his 22 off season bonus is paid out he’ll have 3 years remaining with 910k in salary owed each year. His bonus payments for those two remaining off-season are $7.04M still manageable for most teams considering the player and lack of in season salary.

To be fair he’s been productive on the whole. But he’s looked nowhere near worth his contract lately and if he can’t bring it in the playoffs then we are screwed

The good news is he's bounced back before, so we need to pray that his game will come back at some point. The bad news is we paid a Ferrari price but as time goes on he looks more and more like a minivan.

I hate Torey Krug. His little tough guy act, scrunched up tough guy face.

I call him Scrappy Doo.

We had a game earlier this year where a bunch of guys were scrumming and everything started to calm down but there was Scrappy still thinking it was time to keep going and I swear the other guys from both teams looked at each other like, "It's ok, he'll tire out soon and we'll put him down for a nap."

Also he can't keep a helmet on to save his life.

Playoff hockey boys. Stop AM & MM and you stop the Leafs. On another disturbing note, ya Nylander scored twice but it did appear that he smiled and winked at the camera when he made the boneheaded too many men penalty.

Blues was good, really good. It seems like ROR always have AM numbers even back when he was a Sabres.

I hope this game give the boys a reality check bc that’s the type of teams and games they need to win in the playoffs.

His last two years are right around $7m and after July 1 there’s only 2 of those left. He’d be owed $17ishM for 3 seasons of hockey after July 1.

A few thoughts:
*Shout out to our 4th line, the best I've seen them play in quite some time.
*Mikheyev and Engvall are essentially the same player. One is fine, two isn't. I'd move one before the deadline.
*St. Louis is a good team, and much like Calgary their size helps them against us when we don't have players who will push back.
*Other than his gaffe that led to their 4th, Liljegren is playing well.
*Morgan is such a handful when he jumps into the rush, and he's playing a harder game these days.
*I like our team, I think there's a lot of fine players who make us dangerous against any team in the league, but we need some jam. I hope Kyle feels the same.
Perfect …..

Oh yeah, the classic Krug helmet pop off, when his Taylor Hanson hairdo pops out. What a jerk.

I think it was a wince, not a wink.

He’s at best a $6M player and a 3C on most Cup contenders. He’s great in the face off circle and below the dots but his lack of foot speed is a big problem given the teams puck possession style of play. His 5v5 play is regressing quickly. No way to sugar coat it.

This. He's nowhere near worth that 11m cap hit and at that number you have to be tilting the ice whenever you're on. And talk of trading Tavares is nonsense, he's not agreeing to go anywhere. Best we can do now is hide him on the wing and address a C upgrade in the off-season.

JT's never been a great skater, he's not getting quicker at 32, 33, 34. Muzzin's trending the same way.

classic leaf boards .... after every loss its the end of the world ...
let me check my almanac for all those 82-0 teams

Neither team looked all that good, but the Blues cashed in on their chances. We also are still giving up way too many odd-man rushes since the new year started.

Tarasenk didn't even dress tonight...

Ah well, I would be interested to see a Robertson call up at the end of the month, give him a spin with JT/88, 88 finally got out of that awful goal slump but may as well see what's there.
