I have a question that I don’t think has happened, How come we have never played to my knowledge some of these european teams in friendlies etc?
We were ass for so long and just started coming around in the last 20 months or so which has coincided with qualifying and Covid. I expect to see some summer friendlies

I mean its all great we are in this group I guess but its the only group with 3 top 25 teams plus Canada...

Might be 1 mkre group with the euro team as well

Sure but our world ranking right now has a lot more to do with us starting from way down the table than it does with the quality of the team. We did manage to go undefeated against Mexico and the US in qualifying who are both top 15 in the world ranking. Assuming both Davies and David are healthy we're a pretty good team.

Davies will be returning to Bayern on Apr 12th vs Villarreal - he will be ready.

Croatia is the 2nd weakest pot 2 team imo (US is weaker). Morocco is highly ranked by winning a lot (against lower teams)

Tend to agree, of the pot 2 & 3 possibilities Morocco & Croatia are as good a draw as you can hope for

yikes that's a tough group. The only consolation is that Croatia is old. Morocco however will be very difficult and Belgium is unfortunately out of reach. It will take some dramatic upsets, but who knows there are always a couple underdogs that come out the group stages at major tournaments. It will be very exciting football either way.

That’s a pretty tough group for canada. Belgium have serious talent surely at some major tournament they put it together. Croatia made the final of the last World Cup and Morocco regularly make the World Cup.

I have dual citizenship Australia and Canada I’ll get to cheer on 2 teams if Australia pull their finger out and beat uae and Peru

Croatia might be a good matchup for us - we like to use speed on the counter-attack, and Croatia is old and slow and like to press, which works right into our hands.

Morocco beats up on some really weak teams though. If we can hang with the US and Mexico in qualifying we should be able to take them no problem. Our game against Croatia is going to be the real barometer.

Obviously drawing Qatar would have been the best opportunity. Ignoring that it's a pretty solid draw. We likely would have to beat Pot 2 and Pot 3 teams to advance so if you have to beat a team like Uruguay, Croatia, or Switzerland to advance then you should be able to beat a Morocco even if there may have been some easier pot 3 teams. As for pot 2 avoiding Germany and Netherlands(before they got drawn against Qatar anyway)w ere the key teams to avoid. Croatia won't be easy but considering the other options it's fairly doable.

Looking at the groups in retrospect A would have been the easy one. E would have been the extremely tough one. The other 6 are similar enough it's not a huge deal.

All things considered, I think we were relatively fortunate in the draw. We probably got the second most favorable result possible under the circumstances.

Belgium and Croatia are obviously very strong squads with world class talent and experience, but most of the core players on both clubs are past their prime.

I think we have a chance of coming away with a win against Morocco and a draw against Belgium or Croatia, and historically speaking, that could be enough to get us through to the round of 16.

Exciting times ahead!

Morocco sans Ziyech is one of the more favourable draws from pot 3. Outside of Tunisia I don’t think any of the others from that pot are easier opponents. Switzerland/Croatia were the most favourable matchups from Pot 2 so no complaints there either. Belgium is the king of the group but there are grounds for upset there (even if it’s not Canada).

I’m just happy I have a team to support since Greece is still in their dark age.

Im super happy for Canadian soccer and excited for this WC but if Croatia is old is the argument for being happy with the draw then reality is not gonna be kind

Even an old Croatia would walk through the easiest competition of qualifying that is the concocaf
Expectations are high and that’s awesome but reality kicks in soon
