Paying a team of 11 starters $1m each is more or less impossible/improbable under the MLS salary cap. IIRC players who are not designated players can only have a max salary of like half a mil (yes I know there's a bunch of allocation money you can use to slide the money around).

A wealthy team is incentivized to splash $11m on a marquee player designated player who doesn't count against the cap since if you have the financial strength you might as well use it
Yes hence why I said this is the problem with mls

Good lord are you alright??

you are the only person I've seen (network and internet pundits alike) who thinks the midfield is to blame for those losses. Do you really think you are the only one who sees that the midfield is the "real problem"? Don't you think that if the midfield was really as bad as you say that people would be talking about it more?

Calling for the coach to be canned after two matches, give me a break.
It's been his MO since pre-season. Doesn't make sense as we have 2 stars in the mid-field!

Here’s the problem with mls

1 guy that isn’t gonna with the league alone is making 11.5+ per year

a team with 11 starters each making 1 million would be a top teAm
I don't know how true that is. Look at the past couple MLS Cup winners for example;
2017: Jozy, Bradley, Seba
2018: Barco, Almiron, Martinez
2019: Ruidiaz, Lodiero, Arreaga + Morris & Roldan
2020; Zardes, Zelarayan, Nagbe
2021: Moralez, Castellanos, Moreno, Magno

All these teams had heavy investment and reliance on their DP's and the top couple scorers after that. After that they relied on a mix of MLS vets and strong youth to fill out the roster. The most balance winners I can think of in recent years are probably Sporting (2013), Seattle (2016),

Having game-breaking talent on your team in MLS goes a long way. I think it's better than being a more balanced team.

I believe that happens because ur not allowed to spend 1 mill each on 11 players?
I’m not super knowledgeable of the all the rules but i think the rules don’t allow for strong balanced teams which is my point

A balanced team will always beat a top heavy team in soccer, u just can’t do that in mls

The upside for the league is that while they might be able to build a system where overall the average team is better, this is their best way to control costs while still getting marquee talent. Obviously the game now has wild amounts of momentum in North America, but that wasn't always the case and stars sell!

I see what you mean though, some more balance will eventually make the league improve. I actually see that happening through youth development. The strategy teams are using is to get top tier DPs, and then develop some youth around them with the plan to sell them (which gives you allocation money for more future star players).

Until we bring in a top notch midfielder with speed and skill who has some creativity this team going nowhere but last place .. but looks like Bradley will rely on Bradley which will only lead to failure .. da truth hurts

Like I said da truth hurts .. but still hope we don't finish last .. there is a little light up front and a little light in back but nothing where it really counts

Enlighten me more on this "truth" you keep referring to. Just seems like you have picked the midfield and more specifically Bradley to shit on.

Bradley has sucked now for 2-3 years .. complete loss of speed and can't keep up to MLS play anymore .. and although Da Brampton kid is a warrior he is not a good creative player to get balls up to Poz .. until this area of team is FIXED nothing good is gonna occur .. kinda like ManU who also suck in midfield as teams easily run through them too .. too easy to blame da D when they have players running at them at full speed in numbers .. football is won and lost in midfield

Bradley has lost a step, that is for sure. He is still an above-average MLS player. He has a good passing range and reads the game well. Give me a list of the non-DP DM's that would be better than him. The list is not that long.

Oso is a great ball progressor literally one of his best traits as a footballer. He also does it on a big stage, look back at the tie in the Azteca for example. Your point isn't really based on anything. Ball progression has also not really been a problem for the team this season. The drawbacks have been being hit on the counter and not having the decisive ball in the final third.

Man United do have plenty of problems, really through the whole squad. McFred is definitely a top issue though I'll give you that.

The defending on this team is just not nearly good enough. And it was clear as day before the season started, that’s on management.
That will get better over the season. New tactics, new faces, etc. It will be a process but it will get better.

The question (and possibly worry) is how much better will they get?

Just a quick thanks. I don't have the faculties nor the patience to respond the way you do so eloquently

Important win today for the morale of this young team. The new formation was much more effective today all over the pitch.

It's not. We're well coached , but do not have the troops yet to reach our full potential.

It was always going to be a struggle into July. But my optimism is that we're in striking distance of a playoff spot by the summer as we regroup.
