GDT: Toronto @ Carolina - Thursday 7:30

Bit of a tough stretch coming up here headed into February, we will really see what this team is made of. From now through Feb 22 they will be playing Canes x2, Canucks x2, Stars, Devils, Lightning, Wild, and Oilers.

Plus games against bubble teams and teams that play us hard like Ottawa, Columbus, Calgary, Montreal etc.

On the bright side? No B2Bs during this time.

Feb 22 and 23 is back to back so that should be part of your stretch there as the 22nd is the first night of b2b

Fair enough but given it's at the very end I left it out, plus we play Chicago so no excuses really. Also there is the Four Nations break between February 8 and 22nd.

I expect the leafs to play a great defensive game tonight and likely score 4 or 5 goals on probably fewer than 25 shots, and there will be a bunch of posts about how the leafs got lucky because Carolina's goalie shat the bed.

I know Patches hasn't looked great the past few games outside of some good hits, but surprised if he's a healthy scratch. I'd have him in over Robertson or Holmberg all day long.
He hasn't been moving overly well the past couple games. Maybe he just needs a day off to recouperate. If he is out, wouldn't expect it to be more than one game (unless it is injury related).

Don't mind the new look at all.

Looks like he is slowing down. Could use a game off here and there. Playing a lot given his age and injury history.
He really emphasized how much he needed the Christmas break to recharge, I found it interesting. In and out of the lineup might be the best usage for him, not sure the way he's playing physically, he can hold up. He's been pretty bad the last stretch.
