Bettman says if ( :shakehead ) there is not a normal season this year the NHL probably would not want to go to the Olympics..

Sounds to me like a poor excuse.
The ice hockey olympic tournament will have a 12 days schedule, wow, what a long breakdown that would be for the NHL... :dunno: :dunno:

Anyway, with (hopefuly) or without NHL players I'll be there for Russia-Slovakia and Russia-Sweden games! Yeahhhh!!! :jump:

f*** the NHL

You're just saying that because without NHL players at the Olympics, the USA and Canada are the teams affected the most, making the top European countries the favourites as they will still get to use players from their domestic elite leagues.

... and if Russians end up in the finals (which they surely will :) ), I'm gonna die for that ticket. I'll rob the bank for those 300 or 400 Euros!!!

I think Bettman used that as a public stunt. He knows that the NHL and the IIOC would make more money using NHL players. Bettman said that the NHL wouldn't be able to afford to shut down for roughly 2 weeks in 2006.

But they are able to afford to shut down for at least a month in 2004? I don't buy it.
