I hope Murray can be the guy who won 2 SCs but that was how many years ago ?? The trade is most likely a mistake but I'm done debating it to death. Everybody needs to move on and let it play out. Expect the worst, hope for the best.
Some on the main boards were laughing at his catching hand.
He seems to “catch” like a lot of goalies these days, by making his catching glove look big. Appears to knock it down more than catching puck.
If stays healthy could be good. Just avoid Kreider , skating through blue paint and accidentally on purpose falling on Murray and kneeing him in the head like last year.

Ah yes, the Sens, the most wise and decorated team in hockey.

the GSAx basically just says what a lot of other people have said, high risk, high reward. I think that is a fair read on the situation.

The Sens obviously see the value in the numbers you do. So much they could not wait to dump him on Dubas and acquire a 35?? year old Talbot. Agree with high risk high reward though.

:help: That thought is what's 'amazing'.
If Murray is in tough to make the “team”, Dubas should be fired yesterday.
For nearly 5 mil in cap space, I expect Murray in the net on opening night against Montreal. Nothing less.

Yeah it could turn out to be a great move. Odds are not likely. It's not even about Murray. It's the trade itself. Dubas backed himself into a corner and when the plan of getting some other teams young backup who hasn't broken out yet didn't happen, he got stuck with what was left.

The only thing they couldn't wait to do was pay less money, which is pretty consistent for them. It doesn't "prove" anything.

I think additionally to my point, if Soupy was that important to the Leafs room I am sure Spezz would have vocalized it. This is appearing more and more like the Leafs were just not willing to commit to Jack beyond a certain term, which I think is totally reasonable for a guy who has really only been a starter for 1 full season
The guy we traded for him is the kind of guy this team needs:nod:

A lot of bad goalie deals have happened so far, not even sure Murray is the worse one... still don't like the deal, but I take it over Georgiev or Husso

Sure he has upside but he also has bad and injury prone the last 3 years. Husso and Georgiev fit the original plan of getting some other teams backup that hasn't broken out yet. My guess is Murray was not on the radar til the other 2 got picked up. In the end it should never have gotten to this point. I hope I'm wrong but I think this it not going to end well.

Georgiev is trending backward.

Husso would be a better risk, but he just lost his starting job too.

Not sure there is a good solution, and it just comes down to preferences of bad solutions (Campbell is a bad solution too)

Same posters now dissing Husso and Georgiev would probably be wetting their pants if we acquired one of them a day before Dorion schooled our galaxy brained GM.

Last guy with a really great glove hand might've been Van Biesbrouck, although I'm sure I'm missing someone, but for sure it was before the "butterfly" became king.

And you'd be crapping all over Dubas and the moves, too.

It works both ways. Everyone rationalizes. Don't act like it's just the one side.

This thread is full of revisionist history and hyperbole on both sides. You can tell its summer silly season.

Nope, there are literally no good options that I've seen, I am unhappy with every situation, including Murray.

So you care to tell us how Dubas was not fleeced for Murray and Murray is a better option than Husso or Georgiev and that Leaf fans would not be happier with one of those two? Oh yeah let's not forget that some of the same posters are shitting on Soup now.

Wow, the more I think about the Murray trade, I think Dubas somehow was plans to be the next Sens GM. He got literally nothing in the in the trade with Ottawa, however he made it easier for the Sens to be better. I bet the Sens easily take the battle of Ontario with our Leafs in 2022-2023.

Cam Talbot would have been a better target for our Leafs, however we shall see.

MLSE needs to fire Shanahan and his dumb ass GM named Dubas!

A reminder:

Last year, with only the backups in net: .890sv%, 23-12-1, 107pt pace
Right. There so much hate on the Murray trade. Like relax people. Let’s see what he’s got. The guy clearly wants to be here and I have faith. Who knows, could play up to his penguins form.

Someone has to explain to me why Murray @ $4.7 is better than Campbell @ $5... I don't get it. What in the fck are we going to do with $312,500?

I do not dislike the Samsonov signing, but could he not have fit with Campbell as well?

The difference isn't just the money, it's the term. I love Soup and I really wish him the best, but that is a VERY risky deal for Edmonton and one I think they will regret.

Ottawa gave us a goalie and 2 draft picks for nothing other than the mysterious "future considerations".

Your interpretation of this as us getting "literally" nothing is hard to understand to put it mildly.

Term is the issue. If Campbell would have been willing to sign for 2 years at that price, he'd probably still be here.

Those draft picks do nothing to help the win now situation the team is in. Granted they have broader value, and I did not dismiss them outright.

Fair, if it was term to line up with Matthews then I can understand that.

However, in my mind, Murry is a far inferior goaltender to Campbell... is that true? Dunno, but guess we will find out. Thx.
