NHL sure has changed

Some of these old school GM's used to give these guy multi year deals simply because of the cup they were just apart of.

I think there is a stanley cup premium, but it has disappeared for a vast majority of the guy on roster in free agency.

The exact opposite of Nick Robertson. Big, grinding, low-scoring left-winger.

Who knows? Maybe this is the kind of player the Leafs really need.

Lorentz is anything but a replacement for Robertson, but I have a growing sense that Robertson will get his wish sooner rather than later.

I do like the fact he's got a cup ring and I do like the size but I don't really see the point because they have a 4C in Kampf.

If they are doing PTO's I was hoping for Matt Martin or Clutterbuck or Kubalik.

They need a winger

According to HockeyDB Lorentz is a center which is why this is an odd PTO

Like the Rangers when they signed Goodrow

Nice depth pickup if he makes the Leafs. As others have said, would have liked the Cats to re-up him.

The Leaf's bottom 6 is very light right now. If he makes the team and Mcmann is on the 3rd line they need at least one more big/"heavy" forward

Makes sense. There isn't a ton in the system to fill what lorentz can bring. Should be a pretty solid 13th forward option. Better than Reeves anyways.

That may come back if the cap continues to go up. The stagnation there has made some of them a bit more frugal with their space it seems.

I can see him winding up on a SPC and being part of the Leafs' 4th line this year.
