First, wanna say that I'm a fan of neither team. Just an idea I had while looking at capfriendly.
So maybe this is a "No!" from both sides.
to TOR: Stillman
to CHI: Mrazek, Holl, 2022 1st Rounder
Why Toronto does it:
Pretty obvious that they need cap space, and both Mrazek and Holl are dead weight. Unfortunately, neither have signing bonuses, and Mrazek's contract is actually back loaded ($400k and $600k greater than his cap hit), so they'll need to find a rebuilding partner for whom cash isn't a concern. Corey Stillman was a good bottom pair d-man for the Panthers before he was moved to Chicago. Highly physical, has an edge to his game...I think he'd be a great add as the Leafs bottom pair LHD.
Why Chicago does it:
They're rebuilding, but they don't have a 1st Rounder this year. They trade Fleury, and their other two goalies are UFAs. Mrazek is good two-year option for tanking. Meanwhile, Holl has a 10-team NTC, but I doubt an American from the Midwest is gonna nix a trade to Chicago.
