imo the blues could get a okay prospect, pick 25-50 or so for a few different guys, maybe even “get a mammoth return” whatever that means, and get a somewhat better than the usual prospect that is traded this time of year if they traded Schenn, got creative with some other mid tier pieces. Maybe binnington can nab a late first or second plus prospect. Maybe Kyrou could secure a bit more.
So if we wanted that - that being a bunch of good stuff that add up to a fair value - as the return we’d probably go that route. Before we’d take calls on Parayko we’d probably find what we needed.
Imo the way Parayko moves is a hockey trade or an offer that includes one very high pedigree pick or piece. We would use him in a deal to get the more individually valuable return, if that’s what we were after, since he’s the only one that would probably be able to command it. A top 5 pick, something with top 6 or top 4 high potential, a hockey trade of an equivalent bonafide center or defenseman. We wouldn’t move Parayko I don’t believe for a pile of stuff that does equal one Parayko. He’s too established for that.

Over the last 3 seasons Carlo has the 6th best on ice GF% at 5 on 5 for defensemen who have played at least 82 games over that time span while having less offensive zone starts than any defender in the league. He's been bad this year, like the whole team, but just last year he was 15th(minimum 41 GP) while again leading the league in defensive zone start percentage. So you're straight up wrong saying he hasn't been rock solid the last two years.

...the Habs offer Calgary's 1st 2025, Pitt 2nd 2025 and Joshua Roy...throw in Mike Matheson if they subtract the 2nd...

I'm pretty sure Boston could do better than this for Carlo. At the very least, i think they could pry a better 1st or a comparable very good prospect away...even if that means shopping him to a bubble team, or even a non-playoff team, since he's got term remaining.
Heck, Buffalo immediately jumps to mind as a team that has all sorts of picks and prospects to offer for a guy with pretty much exactly Carlo's profile. But i think a lot of other teams would be interested and able to beat TOR 2026 1st, a 2nd, and Robertson who is pretty much just a throw-in tweener who can't stay healthy at this point.
I think Toronto could get Parayko for Knies + Cowan with a bunch of dumps to make salary work.

Like I respectfully told the OP in my second post (and a bit in my first), without an actual replacement at RHD that can reliably hold the defensive minutes that Parayko is tested with every game, there is no deal. Even if we traded for someone like Simon Nemec or Brandt Clarke using a winger like Neighbours or Bolduc+, that only solves the offensive side of the right-handed defense problem, not the defensive minutes.
Toronto's replacement would have to be a right-handed defenseman as elite as Parayko is defensively, in addition to their first, to make it work. Otherwise, there is no deal to be made, plain and simple. You do not have that, or you wouldn't be asking for Parayko. You would not want to give it up if you did have that.

We don’t need Matheson so I’d go with the picks and Roy.
Why would you think you could get Parayko for a late 1st, late 2nd and marginal capdump? Adding Timmns/Robertson/Dewer doesn’t improve the offer.
Selling low on Carlo but it may be best for the Bruins. They need major change.
However the goal should be a middle 1st not late 1st.

This is his first poor season and a season where oddly the entire defense looks terrible. New defensive coach, system, lack of forward support... who knows the cause.
Carlo is 300x the player Holl is.
He and Frederic are ideal pieces to trade even if selling low as they will still return assets.

Sure, maybe if 1 the Blues needed wingers for the future, 2 were selling guys off and didn't care about being competitive in the next 5 years or 3 had anyone in the organization who could competently play top 4 RD in the next 5 years.
But they don't need wingers, they aren't willing to tank, and they don't have anyone in the organization who is a legitimate NHL prospect and a primary RHD aside from Adam Jiricek who lost alot of the last two years to injury likely setting his timeframe back further.

I feel like a lot of Toronto fans don't really know how Parayko plays according to his thread, they just see 6'6 RHD. He's got a lot of strong suits, he loves carrying the puck, he isn't as rock solid defensively as most think, and I honestly can't think of a way to make the pairs work if they acquired him without a major D shake-up, something that rarely happens mid-season for a competitive team.
Rielly-Parayko would work great in a chel game, it would be a disaster in real life. So are you breaking up McCabe-Tanev? Cause Rielly-Tanev wasn't exactly Berube's favourite thing to watch (and I think you can start to see the common denominator here). OEL-Parayko with Mo on the 3rd pair? Extremely unlikely.

The Parayko part of it Looks like a deal someone playing The Blues in franchise mode on NHL 25 and trying to trade away players to get stuck in a forever rebuild. It's honestly just not feasible for a team who is trying to retool on the fly to get back into the playoffs sooner rather than later. If the Blues for some dumb reason trade Parayko it's going to be a hockey trade long before they move him for futures.
