Kane and Brodeur are tied for 6th spot poll right now 29-29, so let's do a tie breaker for the weekend and then do the 7th best player in a couple of days.

Loser of the poll will go back and face Kucherov and company for 7th .

Two great players, it is close but I have to go with Martin Brodeur in this one, even if we are leaving his 90’s seasons off the table.

Went for Brodeur in part because I want to see a serious discussion about these 3 guys in round 7.

Hart voting results

Mack 1,2,2,3,5,6

Kane 1,6,,6,7,8,15,17

Kuch 1,2,6,8,12,13

Playoff scoring rate per 82

Mack 45-62-106

Kuch 30-64-93

Kane 28-47-75

That includes 15 points in 16 games past the age of 28.

Brodeur.

For the people in the back, he was 28 when the 2000-2001 season started.

Over the course of the next nine seasons, he played 72-78 games in a season eight times and led in minutes played five times, was second twice, and third once. He led in shutouts four times and wins six times. He set the individual wins by a goalie record in his age 34 season.

He won four Vezinas and was a finalist three other times.

He was a three-time Hart finalist and was top 5 two other times (I normally don’t care about anything beyond top 3 Hart voting, but I make an exception if a goalie places in the top 5).

He won a Cup and helped lead his team to two Stanley Cup Finals appearances during those nine seasons. He arguably should have won the Conn Smythe.

When we expand it out to his final 5 seasons, age 38 and beyond, he managed to lead the Devils to the Finals where they lost to Kings. His team managed to score a whopping 7 goals in 6 games. His overall run was also Conn Smythe worthy.

Looks like Brodeur is going to win this one but I'll wait till tomorrow night before posting a poll for 7th best player as things should get really interesting.
