Clearly clearly this is not about hockey. This has been bubbling and something must have happened last night

someone in the main board said suggested something happened off ice between him and another teammate last night but no media is reporting it. But something had to happen. This can not be about him deleting his twitter account

So... redirecting focus from this specific incident, this year is turning into a circus for us quickly. Two wins, blowing leads, can’t play a full 60 minute effort, Zib MIA, Chytil looks to turn a corner only to go down for 6 weeks, Kakko and Laf both mostly invisible. Shesterkin not the clear starter. Line juggling galore. Decent prospect in Gauthier benched indefinitely in favor of career fringe AHLers. Now Tony on waivers and a lockerroom fight?

Some of those things are growing pains and can’t be controlled, but some can be controlled, managed or mitigated. Someone up top has to get an overall better handle on things before we spiral down an Edmonton shaped hole labeled “rebuild”. And I don’t mean to overreact. I’m not saying the sky is falling. I’m just saying this is a bad series of events and circumstances that can create a bad environment quickly, especially when you’re trying to develop a lot of young men in the room.

Possible he wanted to play top line minutes, and when he was denied he got inspired by Curt Schilling and told the coach to waive him so the men who matter can dictate his playing time. My opinion he made a misjudgement with that.

You most likely won't find out what happened. With reporters not allowed down there anymore, you'd need a player to detail what happened or a guy in the hallway. regardless, he probably won't play another game here.

Reactions: Filthy Dangles
Gorgy didn't leave the puck for Tony D behind the net and gave the puck away and Pitt scored the GWG.
He was probably started sh*t in the locker room about it.

This is surprising, but not shocking.

He was already on thin ice. Something had to have happened last night.

He should have been dealt this past summer if there was an inkling that there were unresolved issues in the room. To lose an on ice asset like DeAngelo and get absolutely nothing in return is horrendous asset management and is a significant indictment on both Quinn and Gorton. The former for not getting his house in order, and the latter for not having his fingers on the pulse of the room.

Quinn should lose his job over this and Gorton's seat should start getting warm. This is how much of a clusterf*** losing an asset like DeAngelo for nothing is, completely ignoring my other grievances with them at the moment.

Came here to post this. I'm disappointed in Tony D and want him to succeed like any other player, but it is evident David Quinn doesn't want to coach Tony D, Jeff Gorton never wanted to re-sign him, and the front office never wanted to hang onto him. Tony has his defensive shortcomings, but I see that this organization right now clearly has other "issues" that this Tony story is masking. It seems like the team is intentionally trying to have his name out there all the time and it has all but torpedoed his trade value.

I think you exaggerate with the Edmonton comparisons.

i could see him and Georgie getting into it. DeAngelo has some bad body language on goals against where he kind of throws his hands up and shakes his head like someone messed up.

Is anyone suprised given the complete lack of leadership from the coach on down?
Not at all, hence my "surprised but not shocked comment"

Quinn should lose his job over how this was handled but won't. If DeAngelo was yapping and being insubordinate, so to speak, no message is going to be sent by a one game benching.
