This is surprising, but not shocking.

He was already on thin ice. Something had to have happened last night.

He should have been dealt this past summer if there was an inkling that there were unresolved issues in the room. To lose an on ice asset like DeAngelo and get absolutely nothing in return is horrendous asset management and is a significant indictment on both Quinn and Gorton. The former for not getting his house in order, and the latter for not having his fingers on the pulse of the room.

Quinn should lose his job over this and Gorton's seat should start getting warm. This is how much of a clusterf*** losing an asset like DeAngelo for nothing is, completely ignoring my other grievances with them at the moment.

The rumor about an altercation seems to be the most logical. There is no way this has anything to do with politics. If that was the case, Tony would have been gone by now. And hockey locker rooms aren't exactly liberal think tanks to begin with. He must have said or done something last night that was deemed too destructive in the locker room. But if there was an altercation it is interesting that it is only one player... To put Tony on waivers and not anyone else really means he's done with the NYR. He would likely feel too alienated for that to repair.

worst defensive dman on the team (yes including JJ), leaves the zone on a breakout before his wingers, and point production comes from getting secondary assists to Panarin on the power play.
