I'm not sure how many teams would take him without getting the full story on what happened and I doubt NYR will be willing to brief other teams about this in the next 12 hours

I think a team like Ottawa who is getting killed, is in full rebuild mode and has 11M in cap space would still take a shot. It’s a free asset who scored almost 60 points last year.

My money would be on Smith. Wouldn't be the first time and he looked ready to kill someone last night.

If it was Smith, after also being benched last night, they’d both be on waivers lol

you know what, there are millions of NYR fans who don't give a flying f about his views being unacceptable to *some*. Or about his views at all.
Cool.

Can’t imagine the ownership and management of a billion dollar sports franchise care in your scenario.

This is one of them situations where Gorton needs to have a presser or a press release about this and nip it in the bud. No point of dodging the obvious questions and letting social media and frankly the entire league that has an appetite for a negative DeAngelo story fester and rumor into a mess.

Possible, just a bit, that it made him more punchable?

He probably mouthed to a coach or something.

No I really don’t think it has anything to do with politics. Take politics out...he still has a prickly personality and likes to run his mouth as you mention. He’s very punchable because of this lol.

If this is the end of his time with the Rangers, there must be a trade coming, right? Can't go with Johnson-Smith for the rest of the year.

Don't tempt fate

Maybe Hajek gets another look. Now that we don't have ADA to protect in expansion, they don't have to worry about losing him to Seattle

Let's wait to hear more information about his behavior before we judge this decision.

I'm disappointed, and especially disappointed that they weren't able to trade him, but he was increasingly becoming redundant on the ice as well with how Fox is doing.
